ballet exams done β˜‘οΈ and dusted! πŸŽ‰

πŸ”‘πŸ“ŒπŸ“ Why are ballet exams important for dancers???

πŸ”‘Confidence and resilience - pushing through nerves and succeeding through trusting their training and giving their best builds confidence which is a foundational life skill.
πŸ”‘Creativity and artistry- despite following a structured syllabus in an exam, dancers are still required to show their own artistry, musicality, performance and expression which is hugely personal and encourages dancers to think independently.
πŸ”‘ Discipline and self - motivation - progress and improvement require diligence and consistency as well as perseverance. This teaches children that their on-going efforts are what count and to stay motivated in themselves keeping the focus.

πŸ“πŸ“ŒπŸ”‘ These are all life skills needed to become a strong, motivated and proud person who can handle tough situations and be proud of their achievements!

We are so proud of our dancers who show up in every way and smile big while doing it πŸ˜πŸ’›β€οΈπŸ’“

Braceo and palillos! πŸ’ƒ

Spanish is one of the only art forms where you don’t just dance to music, you create a rhythm through footwork and of course castanets!

When it comes to castanets, arm lines are an essential part of not just artistry but also in how you play castanets. Perfect arm lines allows you to play castanets in different arm positions, an incorrect arm could hinder the overall sound of your castanet.
This goes to show how important our braceo (arms) is when we dance. It doesn’t just look pretty, it is also functional! πŸ’ƒ

Why is flexibility in ballet important?
- Flexibility allows a dancer enhance their posture and alignment as well as create beautiful long, elegant lines and extensions - think of a beautiful high arabesque line.
- Proper, intentional flexibility ensures less injuries and sound technical enhancement protecting a dancers joints and muscles.
- Flexibility allows a dancer to move not only with greater strength but dreamy fluidity and grace.
- Regular stretching enhances blood flow to the muscles which releases tension helping speed up recovery time.

What other benefits have you noticed through regular stretching and gaining more flexibility whether it be in your dancing or just your day-to-day life?

We’d love to hear from you!
