Purpose sits at the very foundation of good governance. But having a purpose statement is not the same as being a purpose-led organisation and the difference becomes clear when difficult decisions need to be made.

Good governance depends on sound structures, clear processes and effective oversight.

But structures do not interpret risk. Policies do not experience pressure. Frameworks do not decide whether to speak up, hold back or challenge the prevailing view.

People do.

That is why understanding governance also requires us to understand the human beings within it.

In this free webinar, Divya Mahendran will draw on behavioural science, neuroscience, complexity, leadership and behavioural governance to explore:

One thing that came through very clearly in our Journey to Accreditation webinar is that accreditation is about trust, far more so than simply ticking a box.

Prof. Sezer Bozkuş Kahyaoğlu spoke about the difference between simply having policies in place and actually applying them fairly, consistently and responsibly. Dr Lindie Grebe also reflected on the work that goes into building credibility over time, from peer review and editorial standards to making sure the Journal stays useful to both researchers and practitioners.

Additionally, the conversation touches on something we care about deeply at the Good Governance Academy: closing the gap between governance research and governance practice.

Advances in Corporate Governance is not intended to be a journal that exists only for academics. The aim is to create a space where researchers, practitioners and governance professionals can contribute ideas, challenge each other, and help move the field forward.

A big thank you to Prof. Sezer and Dr Lindie for such an open and thoughtful discussion, and to everyone who joined us.

When we talk about corporate social responsibility, it’s easy for the conversation to stay theoretical.

That’s part of what makes Dr Jagbir Singh Kadyan such a valuable guest for this webinar.

Dr Kadyan is a Certified CSR Professional with around 15 years of industry experience and 15 years in academia, giving him a perspective that sits comfortably between research, policy and the realities of business practice. He currently serves as Associate Director of the Centre for Socio-economic and Sustainability Research in New Delhi.

He has also published extensively across commerce and business management and has worked with universities and institutions in India and internationally.
That breadth of experience is especially relevant to this discussion.

India’s approach to CSR has moved beyond voluntary commitments into a formal mandatory framework, raising important questions about what responsibility looks like in practice, how businesses create social value, and what other countries and organisations might learn from the Indian experience.

If you work in governance, sustainability, business leadership, policy or research, this is a chance to hear from someone who has spent years working across those worlds.
