The Margo Steele School of Accountancy is one of the oldest teaching units within the University of the Witwatersrand.

The School of Accountancy at Wits University is one of the premier institutions for professional accountancy education on the continent. Wits students continuously claim top honours in the annual SAICA Board Examinations. Accounting education at the University commenced in the 1930s and has a proud educational history of the more than 75 years. Graduates of the school now lead major public and private institutions in South Africa and beyond. Within the higher education landscape, it is pleasing to note that Wits is rated in the top 400 of world universities and the School’s chartered accountancy programme is rated as one of the best in the country. The School Of Accoutancy is a vertically integrated and research vibrant institution that is situated in the economic hub of Southern Africa. Located at Braamfontein, the centre of the City of Johannesburg, we offer undergraduate & postgraduate courses that lead to prestigious degrees in the field of Accountancy. With its forty-nine academic and six support staff, SOA strives to provide a world-class accounting education by continuously improving its teaching, learning and research capacities. In the tradition of knowledge, diligence and integrity, the school aims to instill on its graduates critical-lateral thinking, ethics and multiculturalism, and recognizes life long and prior learning related issues.
