It is one of the unique programs of the SOMAFCO Trust which aims to predominantly inspire South African
young active citizens whilst preserving,promoting the legacy and values of the Solomon Mahlangu Freedom
College ( SOMAFCO) and the individual who this symbol of freedom was named after. It also venerates the late ANC President Oliver Tambo and Tanzania's founding father,Mwalimu Julius Nyerere,who both selflessly
made contributions to not only to their people, but humanity as a whole. Upon handover of the expansive ANC settlements of Mazimbu and Dakawa to the caring and loving people of Tanzania both these
settlements where proclaimed as "monuments" that would symbolize the "friendship" between the people of Tanzania and South Africa. By particularly enabling the young South Africans,especially those who did not grow up or live in exile,to visit these monuments, the O R Tambo
Edu-Tour gives life and expression to this proclaimation made by the O R Tambo. More importantly, the Educational Tour constitutes the advancement of this rich heritage and friendship built during a time of need and struggle. It is a platform to dialogue on issues of critical importance to youth and the future of Africa. The O R Tambo Edu-Tour provides young South Africans an opportunity to learn about a South African history that unfolded in Tanzania.

Note that the SOMAFCO Trust will tomorrow release further questions which will allow to Facebook users to participate on the tour.

Soon, we will launch one of the exciting phases of the competition which will run concurrently with the Solomon Mahlangu Phase! The count down has started towards the launch of this exciting phase. This is a historic year on many fronts and we plan to ensure that we meet the challenge of commemorating it properly!
