[CSET NEWS] As part of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Youth Day, we were proud to be in Moletsane, Soweto, today, empowering young people with valuable information about the qualifications offered by . We were encouraged by the excellent turnout and would like to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who expressed an interest in our Science, Engineering and Technology programmes. We trust that the information shared will assist many young people in making informed decisions about their future studies and careers. We also extend our appreciation to the City of Johannesburg for inviting us to participate in this important youth empowerment initiative and for creating a platform that connects young people with educational opportunities.

Congratulations to Prof Phumlani Fortune Msomi, a finalist in the TW Kambule-NSTF Emerging Researcher Award category of the 2025/2026 NSTF-South32 Awards.
Prof Msomi is an Associate Professor in the College of Science, Engineering and Technology, Institute for Catalysis and Energy Solutions (ICES) at the Unisa - The University of South Africa . For developing advanced electrochemical energy materials that improve the efficiency, durability, and affordability of clean, low-carbon technologies such as fuel cells and flow batteries, supporting SA’s transition to sustainable energy.
