Dear everyone,
As the Wits School of GAES Student Council, we have embarked on a journey to help the students in our school in the best way possible. As a result, of our wish to inspire students in our school, we have decided to host a career day. This will include some personnel from our school and the individuals from corporations that we hope will be invited to share their experiences with the students in our school.
Regards
Clinton Wenfrey

Dear Students,
We would like to draw your attention to an investigation currently taking place in the archaeology department of our school.
In the interest of transparency, the student council views it important and relevant for all GAES students to be aware of such an investigation as we are key stakeholders in the events that occur in our school.
Neither the council, nor the students were notified of such an investigation, therefore the council has requested the following:
1. The preliminary report to be made available to all the School of GAES stakeholders.
2. The investigation to be conducted across the entire School of GAES i.e. not just the Archaeology Department.
3. The investigation panel must involve students and the GAES Student Council in the investigation process as well any further communication on the matter.
4. Extend the period of the investigation to be inclusive of a time where students are available i.e. extend it into Block 3.
As the email you've been sent already stipulates those who have an input, should please contact the people mentioned in the email, and the student council would like to encourage students to please do so.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Warm Regards,
Your GAES Student Council
Dear students,
Some signs to watch:
- Wits will communicate with students (with regard to fees) via a "don't reply" address
- the Wits account is with Standard Bank and not with FNB
- wits emails about fees usually have some sort of water mark or Wits logo.
Please be vigilant, and if any further emails around fees come, please check your fees statement on the self service portal!
12/06/2017
This email is a SCAM! Do not deposit money into this account, all fees queries need to be dealt with at the Fees Office! Please spread the word.
You heard about us, now come meet us.
GAES Student Council Meet and Greet.
-Date: 10 May 2017
-Venue: Bernard Price, Lecture room (016)
-Time: 13:20 pm (lunch time)
The meet and greet will be an informal interactive space which students can come forward with views, questions and suggestions for the council and school at large. In addition to this students will be briefed on the pending programmes by council members and will get the opportunity to sign up for the subcommittees of different officers in the council; volunteer for some of the programs and engage with the members.

It is with great sadness that we would like to inform our students, and the greater Wits community of the passing of Thuso Magonya. The GAES council would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family, as well as everybody who knew him.
In collaboration with a number of groups that Thuso was a part of, we will be hosting a memorial service:
When: 12th April
Where: GLT
Time: 13:20 to 14:10.
Any further information will be circulated through email as well as posted on social media. Please also feel free to share any memories or pictures in the comments section.
We are privileged to have spent time with Thuso, may his soul rest in eternal peace.
