JET Education Services has evolved from its beginnings as the Joint Education Trust in 1992 to meet the changing needs of South Africa’s public education sector and respond to emerging challenges. Over the years, we have learned many lessons and we share our expertise in educational research, project management and implementation and monitoring and evaluation with our clients – acting for or in pa

rtnership with government, business and other development agencies who share our commitment to improving the quality of education and the relationship between education, skills development and the world of work. We currently focus on six areas in the education sphere: Early Childhood Development, Teacher Development, Union Leadership, Post School Education and Training, ICT in Education and School Improvement.

At the Global Digital Collaboration Conference 2026 in Geneva, education sector participants explored the infrastructure of digital trust, including digital identity and wallets, verifiable credentials, interoperability and standards, trust, governance and regulation, and moving from standards to real-world use cases.

The collective summary calls on education sector actors to take a more proactive role in building a global infrastructure for digital trust, one that upholds the human right to education, is governed as a digital public good, and strengthens inclusion, equity, safety and quality across education systems.

The Global Digital Collaboration Conference 2026 is underway, taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, 1–3 September 2026.

Today, James Keevy is moderating the session “Verifiable Credentials and Academic Recognition: Building Global Trust for Lifelong Learning.” Move from theory to practice: this panel spotlights real-world implementations and use cases of digital wallets and verifiable credentials for lifelong learning.

The session aims to map the current landscape of digital wallet and verifiable credential adoption across lifelong learning systems, without getting bogged down in technical complexity. It focuses on where wallets and credentials are already in active use to solve everyday challenges, such as accelerating university admissions, eliminating diploma fraud, and simplifying cross-border job applications.

As AI continues to reshape education, South Africa needs spaces for thoughtful, evidence-informed conversation. Hosted by Human Studios as part of the Lefa AI: AI in South African Basic Education National Webinar Series, this three-part national series brings together leading voices from education, research, government, civil society and the wider ecosystem to explore what AI means for basic education in South Africa (Grades R–12).
