School Governing Bodies play a vital role in promoting effective governance and quality education. They help create a positive learning environment by contributing to policy development, overseeing school finances, supporting learner discipline, and ensuring accountability and transparency.

For this reason, the Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance (MGSLG) ensures that SGBs are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to support schools effectively.

Today, SGBs are being trained on the Section 58B Schools Intervention Programme, a programme that helps SGBs understand their roles and responsibilities in supporting school improvement plans, promoting accountability, monitoring learner performance, and working collaboratively with school management teams and education officials.

In the video, Ms. Khosi Ntuli, the Senior Project Manager in the School Governance Directorate, explains the purpose of this crucial programme in depth.

The Differentiated Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (DCAPS) is designed to support Learners with Special Education Needs (LSEN) by providing educators with strategies to adapt teaching and assessment to meet diverse learning needs.

Through DCAPS training, educators are equipped with practical tools to identify and address barriers to learning, ensuring that every learner has access to quality education and the opportunity to succeed.

Inclusive education is about recognising each learner’s unique strengths, promoting equal opportunities, and creating classrooms where all learners feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR SUBJECT ADVISORS.

One of the key stakeholders in innovating, strengthening, and improving teaching and learning in schools is the Subject Advisors. They play a vital role in education by supporting, monitoring, and guiding educators to enhance curriculum delivery, teaching quality, learner performance, and the effective implementation of educational policies and programmes.
As stakeholders responsible for supporting education in all these areas, they must be skilled in using technology and ICT gadgets to modernise and simplify teaching and learning.

To ensure these goals are achieved, the Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance (MGSLG) continues to provide Subject Advisors with ICT Integration Training.
This programme aims to equip them with the tactics and strategies necessary to effectively support educators in integrating information and communication technology (ICT) into teaching and learning.
It enhances their capacity to guide schools in using digital tools, promote innovative teaching practices, improve learner engagement, and strengthen digital literacy among both educators and learners.
