The journey towards strengthening Early Childhood Development (ECD) practitioners is underway as Cohort 9 of the NQF Level 4 ECD Training Programme (2026–2027) takes its next step.

The cohort began with an orientation session on 28 July 2026, providing participants with an introduction to the programme and the learning journey ahead. This was followed by the Introduction Phase, which commenced on 4 August and runs until 20 August 2026, with training taking place at intervals.

The programme leads to an FET Certificate in Early Childhood Development, providing participants with an opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and skills in ECD.

As these practitioners continue through their learning journey, they are investing not only in their own professional development, but also in the quality of care, learning and development experienced by young children.

At MGSLG, we believe that strong foundations begin with empowered practitioners.

On the last day of the Differentiated Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (DCAPS) training, Subject Advisors reflected on four days of learning, collaboration, and professional growth dedicated to strengthening inclusive education.

Throughout the programme, participants explored practical approaches to differentiated and multi-level teaching, shared experiences from the field, and worked together to develop solutions that will enhance curriculum implementation and support teachers in meeting the diverse needs of learners.

As the training concluded, Subject Advisors left equipped with valuable knowledge, practical strategies, and a renewed commitment to supporting schools in creating inclusive learning environments where every learner has the opportunity to thrive.

The end of the training marks the beginning of a greater impact, as the skills and insights gained over the past four days are translated into meaningful support for teachers and improved learning outcomes across our schools.

Knowledge grows when it is shared.

Day three of the Differentiated Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (DCAPS) training provided Subject Advisors with an opportunity to move from learning to leading as they unpacked key approaches to strengthening teaching and learning.

The day focused on multi-level teaching and differentiated teaching, highlighting the importance of recognising that learners have diverse abilities, learning styles, and support needs. Through these approaches, educators are better equipped to create inclusive classrooms where every learner has the opportunity to engage with the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Building on these discussions, Subject Advisors took to the floor to present their findings, demonstrating their understanding of the concepts and sharing practical ideas for implementation. The presentations encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and the exchange of best practices, reinforcing the value of learning from one another.

As the training continues, these shared experiences are helping to build a network of instructional leaders who are committed to supporting teachers and driving meaningful improvements in classrooms across our schools.
