Athletics Spotlight: Baraka Simelane

We are proud to celebrate Baraka Simelane, who represents De La Salle Holy Cross College with distinction on the athletics track!

Baraka is an exceptional athlete who excels in both the 100m and 200m events, while also taking on the important role of anchor in the U16 relay team. His speed, commitment and determination make him a valued member of our athletics team.

Beyond his athletic ability, Baraka approaches challenges on the track with maturity, grit and perseverance. He also demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship, both on and off the track, setting a positive example for those around him.

Well done, Baraka! The College is proud to have you represent De La Salle Holy Cross College.

Nurturing a Love of Reading and a Heart for Faith

Our Junior School pupils were delighted to welcome the Travelling Catholic Bookshop to De La Salle Holy Cross College! They enjoyed exploring the wonderful selection of books and discovering new stories .

Books have a beautiful way of opening young minds and nurturing young hearts. Through stories rooted in faith, hope, love and compassion, our pupils are invited to discover more about God, deepen their understanding of the world around them and recognise the goodness that can be found in everyday life.

A heartfelt thank you to Pauline Books & Media Centre for visiting our College and inspiring our pupils to discover the joy of reading and the richness of our Catholic faith.

🍕 Pizza, anyone?

Our Grade 2 pupils had a delicious introduction to fractions as they explored halves and quarters through pizza making!

Learning fractions became much more meaningful when they could see, make and share their own pizzas. A fun, hands-on way to bring maths to life! 🍕➗

Collaborative Problem-Solving Challenge 2026

This year’s Collaborative Problem-Solving Challenge took our pupils into the world of investigative journalism, where they explored how truth is constructed and how information should be responsibly evaluated.

Working in teams, our pupils investigated a topical concern, evaluating competing claims, weighing evidence and considering the credibility of their sources before compiling their reports.

The challenge encouraged them to think critically, question information, work collaboratively and communicate their findings responsibly, recognising that sometimes the most honest answer is that more evidence is needed.

Well done to all our pupils for the thoughtful and collaborative way they approached this year’s challenge.
