Holocaust Survivor Day, observed annually on 4 June, celebrates the lives, resilience, and contributions of Holocaust survivors. In the spirit of this special day, 12 of our musicians performed a variety show for survivors and their families at the Holocaust Centre. It was a truly moving experience, with musical items from all genres bridging generations and creating meaningful connections.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate one of our King David educators, who has been invited to speak at the Edu Women in Leadership Conference 2026.
Her presentation, “Leading with Impact – Building Resilient Schools & Communities,” reflects the kind of thinking and care we value across our schools, a commitment to innovation, resilience, and preparing learners for the future.
She has also been nominated in several award categories recognising impact in education, leadership, and innovation. It’s a wonderful acknowledgment of the work happening daily in our classrooms and our broader community.
At King David, we are grateful to have passionate educators who continue to lead, inspire and represent our values beyond the school gates.

King David High School was proud to host the Inter-high Dance Competition 2026, last week, welcoming talented dancers from St Peter’s College, Parktown High School for Girls, and Beaulieu College for an unforgettable evening of creativity, passion, and performance.
From powerful storytelling to breathtaking choreography, the standard of dance was exceptional. We are especially proud of our dancers, whose piece "What Remains" earned the awards for Best Themed Group and Best Choreography, and was named the Overall Winner of the Inter-high Dance Competition 2026.
Congratulations to every performer who took to the stage and helped make this a celebration of talent, expression, and the power of dance.

A huge mazal tov to the cast and crew of Mediocrity, directed by Tali Breitz, on their success at FEDA 2026.
Written by Professor Anton Krueger of Rhodes University, the production earned nominations for both Best Comedy and Best Clown at one of South Africa's premier high school theatre festivals.
We are especially proud of Joshua Furman, who won the Best Clown Award for his portrayal of Kenaf. Congratulations to Joshua and everyone involved in bringing this creative, thought-provoking and hilarious production to life. We couldn't be prouder!

There was something special about seeing our students and staff dressed in black and orange this week as they gathered for an early morning run with Yoel Levy .
The 3km run in support of the Bibas boys was about much more than fitness. It was a moment of unity, reflection and standing together as a community.
Many of our students already knew Yoel from social media, where he has become known for running marathons dressed as Batman in honour of the Bibas family. Hearing his story in person and listening to his message of resilience, Jewish pride and staying true to yourself made a real impact.
Thank you, Yoel, for spending the morning with us and inspiring our students.
And yes, we hope the Johannesburg challah was a highlight of the trip!
