DAAD South Africa

DAAD South Africa The world’s largest funding organisation for the international exchange of students and researchers.

02/09/2026

It’s been a month since Falling Walls Lab Gauteng 2026, so we thought it was time for one more look back at an unforgettable day.

20 finalists took the stage, each with three minutes to present an idea and show what could be possible.

Hosted by the DAAD Information Centre Johannesburg in partnership with the University of the Witwatersrand, the Lab connected emerging innovators from Gauteng with a global community of ideas, research and innovation.

And of course, congratulations once again to our winner, Alimerinda Mlambo, who will take her idea to Berlin for the Falling Walls Lab Finale.

Here’s a little look back at the day.
