The Link Literacy & Numeracy Project

The Link Literacy & Numeracy Project The Link is a Non Profit Organisation which supports the development of literacy and numeracy for second-language english learners.

The Link is a Non Profit Organisation which supports the development of literacy and numeracy in children for whom English is a second language, and who attend low income schools in Johannesburg. The organisation was founded in 2010 by Margi Bashall, a teacher, who was inspired by The Shine Centre. It is managed and staffed by volunteers; members of the community who are committed to making a diff

erence in Education. The Link is recognised by Gauteng educational authorities, and has permission to operate during school hours and work with children in Grade 2 and Grade 3 who are identified by valid testing to be at risk of not achieving their potential. We currently have 17 Link centres operating at schools in Johannesburg, and through our network we are reaching approximately 800 children every week. We have approximately 350 committed and signed up volunteers.
