This week marked the conclusion of the WBS TETA International Executive Development Programme (IEDP) immersion, an enriching journey of learning, global benchmarking, and leadership development across Ethiopia and Sweden. To give delegates a comprehensive understanding of transport transformation, the immersions included strategic policy talks, global industry perspectives, and frontier technologies.
In Addis Ababa, interactions with the African Union Commission for Infrastructure, Energy, and Digitisation, Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopian Aviation University, Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, Addis Ababa City Administration Transport Bureau, and Iceaddis demonstrated how entrepreneurship, infrastructure, and logistics are promoting connectivity.
Visits to the Swedish Institute, Hutchison Ports, Cavotec, and Scania Group in Stockholm demonstrated cutting-edge autonomous freight solutions, world-class logistics, sustainable engineering, and academic research.
The contrast between these two countries offered valuable insights into how shared challenges, from competitiveness and connectivity to cost-to-serve, can be addressed differently depending on a country’s stage of development and transport ecosystem.
When taken as a whole, these experiences provided a rich comparative viewpoint on how various stakeholders promote innovation, policy alignment, and competitiveness in the transportation industry.
As the immersion concludes, delegates return with new perspectives, global insights, and practical lessons to apply within their organisations and the broader transport sector.
