I am a 54 year old mathematics teacher with 33 years of experience between 5 countries on three continents.

In the US, I taught in an alternative school, Catholic school, Islamic school, a community college, Job Corps, private school and public school.

In South Africa, I taught at government schools and was the Head of Mathematics at a private school for 5 years, plus home schooled for two years.

I taught in private schools in both the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.

In Lesotho, I conducted a mathematics workshop.

Original Mathematics Initiative was asked my Gift of the Givers to teach school in Vuwani, Limpopo. This is Venda land in South Africa. My wife, Andile Donga (my former student who is now studying at University of Johannesburg and I taught all of last week.

We did a yeoman's job with the Help of Allah.

These children had been without school for 7 weeks following the burning of the facilities following service delivery protest. The teachers are afraid to return to their schools. The schools are in a rural area and goats walked past our classes daily.

We had 5 high school present. May Allah accept our Ramadan gift to the worthy, young people.

Our trip was all expenses paid but there was no salary.

Allah is The Provider!!

SUCCESS: Original Mathematics Initiative was given to me as an idea by Allah in September of 2011, prior to the close of school.

In 2012 and 2013, I earned an income, by home schooling, while volunteering.

In 2014, I entered the hospital for a 146 day stay which ended on 14 April 2015 at 4PM. Four weeks after my exit I returned to school, although my walking and standing were inhibited. I continued to volunteer.

My 2015 year was better than my previous 3 because I was concerned about my absence while in the hospital.

This year MTN (Africa's second largest cell phone provider) informed me that they would NOT fund my program. After two days of being disappointed, I sent an email asking MTN to help my 6 schools. In less than 24 hours, they responded in the affirmative.

Today MTN gave R228 000.00 ($14,615.00) worth of technology to my schools in the form of a compujectors.

One email, in the Name of Allah has power.

This machine is a computer, mobile smart board, projector, video camera, and Internet and WiFi compatible device.

My days are spent teaching 1,018 children for free in a South African Township (the hood). My nights are spent with private lessons to earn an income.

No salary, no transportation allowance, no free lunches, no medical insurance.

Only after I left my paid job as HOD of a private school did I find life.

Harvest time will come but until then, I shall continue to till the soil, plant seeds, water them, and destroy the weeds, God Willing.
