This Nelson Mandela Day, our little ones discovered that even the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference.

As a school Rooted in Love, we believe that nurturing compassionate, empathetic children is just as important as the knowledge they gain each day. Through meaningful, hands-on experiences inspired by the spirit of Nelson Mandela Day, our little ones explored the values of kindness, generosity and giving back, discovering that every act of compassion has the power to brighten someone's day and strengthen a community.

The learning extended beyond our classrooms as we invited our wonderful Little Ashford families to support a local food drive. Our little ones proudly helped collect, sort and organise the generous donations, experiencing firsthand the joy of helping others and being part of something bigger than themselves.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible village for your generosity, kindness and unwavering support. Together, we are raising children who understand that compassion begins with small actions, and that by working together, we can create a brighter, more caring world for everyone.

Creativity came to life in our Atelier as our little artists worked together to create a magnificent whale using recycled materials. 🐋♻️

This collaborative project encouraged teamwork, communication, problem-solving and imaginative thinking, while showing our little ones how everyday materials can be transformed into something truly extraordinary.

Our little explorers had an out-of-this-world adventure as they explored the wonders of space through hands-on, play-based learning! 🚀✨

Through our specialised EduMove Neuro-Motor Movement Programme, our little ones build balance, coordination, body awareness and confidence while having fun navigating exciting obstacle courses. Every climb, crawl and jump strengthens the foundations for lifelong learning, supporting cognitive development, school readiness and overall wellbeing.

🌊🔍 Our little explorers had a whale of a time during our Find & Count Sea Adventure! As they searched for hidden sea creatures and counted their discoveries, they strengthened their observation, counting, and problem-solving skills through hands-on play.

🦖 Fun with Dinosaurs! 🌋

The children at Little Ashford Woodmead enjoyed an exciting day of dinosaur-themed learning and discovery.

Through matching activities, sensory exploration, and dinosaur excavation challenges, our young learners developed their problem-solving skills, fine motor coordination, concentration, and teamwork. Using water syringes to free hidden dinosaurs from ice encouraged curiosity, perseverance, and scientific thinking as the children observed changes and experimented with different techniques.

Learning through play allows children to explore new ideas, ask questions, and make meaningful connections in a fun and engaging environment.

♻️ Investigating Composting! 🪱

The children at Little Ashford Woodmead explored the fascinating process of composting through hands-on discovery and sensory learning.

As they examined soil, leaves, and organic materials, they learned how food scraps and garden waste can break down naturally to create nutrient-rich compost. This activity encouraged curiosity about the environment while developing observation skills, scientific thinking, and an understanding of sustainability.

By exploring where compost comes from and how it helps plants grow, our young learners are discovering the important role they can play in caring for the world around them.

Curiosity was buzzing at Little Ashford Woodmead as our young learners became mini entomologists for the day! Armed with magnifying glasses, the children carefully observed a variety of bugs, discovering their unique shapes, colours, and features.

Through hands-on exploration, learners developed their observation skills, asked thoughtful questions, and strengthened their understanding of the natural world. Activities like these encourage scientific thinking, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
