Most parents celebrate good marks — and they should.
But here’s a difficult question:
What happens when your child faces a problem that doesn’t have a textbook answer?
University won’t remind them about every deadline.
Employers won’t provide step-by-step instructions.
Life won’t come with a memorandum.
A student can achieve excellent marks and still struggle with:
• Independent thinking
• Decision-making
• Problem-solving
• Adaptability
• Taking initiative
The students who thrive at university — and later in life — aren’t always the ones with the highest marks.
They’re often the ones who can think critically, ask better questions, and solve problems without being told exactly what to do.
Good marks matter.
But the ability to think for yourself matters even more.
So here’s the question:
Do you believe schools are preparing students for life, or simply preparing them for exams?
