If your child is hoping to start university in 2027, there is another application process worth talking about now.
Funding.
Some 2027 bursary applications are already opening, and every funder can have different deadlines and document requirements.
That means this is a good time to start a bursary-ready folder.
Sit down together and start collecting the things that are often requested: ID documents, academic results, proof of income, university application information and any certified or supporting documents that may be needed.
Then keep a simple list of:
→ Which bursaries are available?
→ When do they close?
→ What does each one require?
→ Has the application been submitted?
→ Do we have proof of submission?
The exact requirements will differ, but the habit is what matters.
Parents do not need to take over the process.
You can help your child get organised, ask the right questions and keep an eye on deadlines while they learn to take responsibility for their own applications.
Because the worst time to discover that you need another document is three days before the bursary closes. 😅
If university is part of the 2027 plan, funding preparation should probably be part of the plan too.
