TIPS FOR EXAM PREPARATION

As you prepare for your final exams, work through as many past examination papers as possible.

Remember: your success in the final exam will depend on how much extra time and effort you put into your preparation.

🔟 TOP STUDY TIPS

1️⃣ Prepare your materials
Have everything ready before you start: pens, pencils, highlighters, paper, calculator and other study materials.

2️⃣ Stay positive
Believe in yourself. Remind yourself why you are studying and how important it is to understand the work and earn those marks.

3️⃣ Take a short walk 🚶
A change of scenery and some fresh air can help you refresh your mind before returning to your studies.

4️⃣ Break the work into smaller sections
Avoid trying to learn everything at once. Study manageable sections to stay focused.

5️⃣ Keep study sessions effective
Take short, constructive breaks between study sessions. This can help you maintain concentration.

6️⃣ Teach someone else 🗣️
Explain concepts to someone who will listen. Teaching others can help you identify what you understand and what you still need to revise.

7️⃣ Use colours and pictures 📝
Mind maps, diagrams, highlighting and colour coding can make revision easier to remember.

8️⃣ Focus on difficult areas
Be confident with the topics you know well, but spend extra time on the sections you find challenging.

9️⃣ Repeat, revise and don’t give up! 💪
Repetition helps you retain information. Keep practising and revising.

😴 Take care of yourself: Get enough sleep, eat properly and drink plenty of water. Your brain needs rest and energy to learn effectively.

🔟 Be physically and mentally prepared
Exam preparation requires effort and discipline. Look after yourself so that you can stay focused and perform at your best.

KEEP GOING — YOUR HARD WORK WILL PAY OFF!

📚 Study. Practise. Revise. Believe. Achieve.

3. Be positive. It helps your brain hold on to the information.

EXAM WRITING TIP

Tackle Each Question Systematically

✅ 1. Read the question carefully
Underline the key words, especially the verbs that tell you what you need to do.

✅ 2. Understand what is being asked
Ask yourself:
• Is it a one-part or two-part question?
• What information do I have?
• What do I need to find?
• What steps should I follow?

📝 3. Plan your answer
Make a few notes about the steps you will take before answering. This can help you organise your thoughts and identify mistakes.

4. Follow the required format
Some questions require you to apply your knowledge. Make sure you answer in the correct format, for example:
• Essay
• Programme
• Review
• Interview
• Letter
