Your Money Matters
20 August 2026 | 5:30 PM SAST
Our relationship with money is often shaped by the experiences we’ve had throughout our lives. In this session, we’ll delve into our money memories to better understand the conscious and subconscious influences behind how we think about money and manage our finances. To move forward with greater financial confidence as adults, we must first look back.
Burnout Talk
17 September 2026 | 5:30 PM SAST
Burnout can leave people feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and powerless. When the demands of life become too much, it can be difficult to meet both external expectations and our own. Join us for this session as we unpack the signs of burnout, explore its impact, and discuss practical ways to restore balance and protect your well-being.
We hope you’ll join us for these insightful conversations as we continue supporting the holistic well-being of our alumni community.

ALA Alumni Leadership Forum
7 August 2026 | 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
You’re formally invited to join us for this year’s ALA Alumni Leadership Forum! Inspired by the African tradition of the kgotla—where communities gather to listen, reflect, and shape the future through collective wisdom—this forum is a meeting of the minds that goes beyond networking.
Reconnect with fellow alumni, strengthen relationships across generations and borders, and help co-create the future of the ALA alumni community. Together, we’ll move from connection to community, transforming our shared history into collective action. Your experiences, ideas, and leadership are essential as we build the next chapter of the ALA community together.
Hello ALAians,
How incredible is it to capture moments with alumni from so many different year groups? We hope you enjoyed watching that video as much as we enjoyed creating it.
Moments like these remind us just how lasting and powerful our mission and vision are as a community. Together, we continue to build a strong community driven by passion, purpose, and our shared commitment to “creating a better Africa for us all.”
Don’t be left behind, join these incredible alumni by signing the pledge and showing your dedication to continuing the work we all care so deeply about.

If you haven’t signed the ALA Pledge yet, now is the perfect time to join your fellow alumni in reaffirming your commitment to the work of ALA and the next generation of African leaders.

Daraja 2026 is coming up, and we’d love to invite you to play a role in preparing the Class of 2024, your Year 1s, for life after ALA.
This year’s theme, Thriving Where You Are, is all about helping the graduating class feel confident in their ability to succeed next year and beyond - whether they choose to take a gap year or head straight to university. As alumni already navigating life beyond ALA, your voice and experience can powerfully reinforce this message.
There are two ways you can get involved:
• Share your story: Send us a video (no longer than 2 minutes) sharing what “thriving where you are” means to you. Please send your video to the AE number.
• Join the conversation: Be part of our panel discussion on the evening of June 10, either virtually or in person if you’ll be in Joburg.
If you’re available to join us, we’d love to hear from you.
