We are proud to announce that we will be hosting our first event of the year, in collaboration with Africa Array.
This will encompass our postgraduate students who just recently presented their world-class research to an international audience at this year’s EAGE - Near Surface Geoscience conference hosted in France (hybrid).
In addition to our presentations, we are excited to announce that the president of the Uppsala SEG EAGE Student Chapter, Magdalena Juhlin, will be giving a presentation. This heralds the beginning of the vast networking potential that EAGE Wits University student chapter has with other EAGE students chapters.
Postgrads from the Seismic Research Centre presented their work over a week-long programme, but this Friday it will finally be on our doorstep.
Please join us in this exciting showcase, where you can always learn something new!
Date: 10 September 2021
Time: 09:30-12:00
Venue: G101

EAGE Student Chapter South Africa had the honour of hosting a career day on the 5th of March in Limpopo.
The expo targeted 400 Grade 11 pupils from all of the province. The purpose of this expo was to educate and inform learners on the opportunities in mining geology since the province has been marked to be the next mining hub.
The institutions which participated in the expo included the University of Pretoria, the University of Witwatersrand, the University of Limpopo and South African Police Service (SAPS)
The Witwatersrand team included various disciplines ranging from Geophysics, Paleontology and Geology.
Learners took well to the practical components of the exhibition (including the famous geophone and pocket lab). They were especially fascinated by the detail they could see from the microscope.
Below is just a few photos to show the fun that was had with the learners.
