Over the past few weeks, I've had the honour of contributing to some impactful discussions at both the InspirHer event and the UJ Combating Corruption Summit 2024.
At the InspirHer event, we celebrated the incredible legacy of women who have paved the way for equality and empowerment in South Africa. It was a reminder of how far we’ve come, but also of the work that still needs to be done. We spoke about the power of community, the value of shared experiences, and how uplifting one another is key to continued progress. These moments of reflection emphasise how much we need each other to thrive and grow.
Fast forward to the UJ Combating Corruption Summit, where I was privileged to participate in a panel discussion on the legislative frameworks shaping the fight against fraud and corruption. The key takeaway? Combating corruption is not only a legal responsibility but a moral one that we all must own. Fraud and corruption tear at the moral fabric of our society, and our collective inaction only deepens societal inequalities. It's essential that we move from conversations to meaningful action.
Both events underscored the importance of collaboration—whether it's driving gender equality or fostering ethical leadership, we need to work together. By continuing these dialogues and sharing insights, we can move our respective fields and, indeed, the country forward.
Thank you to everyone who made these discussions impactful. Puleng for continuing our dialogue from the InspirHer event. My fellow panelists —Sandro Milo, Tracey Chockalingam, Yolande Joan Myburgh—who I spoke alongside 🙏🏽.
Here’s to the lessons yet to come, and to continued collaboration that shapes a better tomorrow.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the UJ Combating Corruption Summit 2024, and I’m honoured to be part of a panel tackling “legislative frameworks and the fight against fraud and corruption.” As someone who serves on both private and public boards, I’m deeply committed to fostering transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership. Dialogues like these are crucial in shaping the future of governance and ensuring we move from conversation to meaningful action. Here’s a sneak peek—looking forward to sharing key insights, networking with like-minded professionals and engaging in impactful discussions 🙏🏽.

Based on my understanding, an individual becomes a member of parliament (MP) after being sworn in, not just from being on a list. To constitute a National Assembly, at least 350 elected members must be sworn in before any business can resume. Therefore, the MK Party's argument that the new National Assembly cannot be constituted without their participation is valid according to me. Without them, there would only be 342 elected members, falling short of the required 350.
The true test of Section 46(1) of the Constitution will unfold in the courts soon, determining how a legitimate National Assembly can be constituted and whether the elections need to be rerun. If rerun, those responsible for vote rigging and insisting on a flawed process to continue should bear the costs.
We need to implement advanced IT systems and technologies to enhance the transparency, security, and integrity of our electoral process. With blockchain technology, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and Biometric Voter Identification, there's no reason we should still rely on outdated and unreliable voting methods.

Reflect on this: In the Eastern Cape, nearly 4 in 10 people have no job; the North West bears a similar burden. Behind these statistics lie countless dreams deferred, families struggling to make ends meet, and a generation at risk of losing hope.
But we at UDM believe in a brighter tomorrow. Our commitment is strong—to revitalize industries, open new factories, and boost skills training, all anchored by comprehensive employment and industrial policies designed for real people, real lives. Together, we can turn the tide on unemployment. Let's bring hope back to every South African home. It's time for change. It's time to act.
