Dear Melvillites and surrounding areas,

We are excited to announce the opening of Silvia and Antoinette's Homework Centre in 8th Avenue, Melville. The services we offer include homework help, extra help in English, Afrikaans, German and maths for children from Grade R to Grade 4. There will also be some extra-murals on offer which include German and Art.

The main focus of the homework centre is to help the children at a time when their concentration is at the optimum level and to provide them with a safe and calm environment in which to develop a love for learning. The classes will be kept small so as to provide the children with the individual attention they need and to help them with, as well as identify areas they are having difficulty with. Once these areas have been identified, this will be communicated to the parents so that appropriate action can be taken eg extra lessons, OT, speech therapy, etc.

About Silvia and Antoinette

Silvia and Antoinette are both teachers at Melville Montessori Preprimary School. Silvia has been working at the school for sixteen years and is deputy principal,cultural teacher and German teacher at the school. Antoinette has been working at the school for eight years and is in charge of the under three year olds. She also offers extra-mural art classes at the school. Both have years of experience helping children of preschool age up to early primary school.

Hi, everybody. In addition to offering homework help, I also have some Montessori educational materials available, classified cards in English, Afrikaans and French. I am in the process of making more in German and Zulu. They go for R120 a package of one English and one other language. The categories are farm animals, wild animals, pets, transport and vegetables. Future categories will include body parts, numbers and family members. Ideal for Montessori preschools, traditional preschools, as well as bilingual homeschooling.
