Get the year started on the right track. Give your children the opportunity to get ahead right from the start.

Our recommendation is that about a week after school begins, the children should get started with their tutoring sessions.

Holidays can be a great time to bond with your children but sometimes it is difficult to get ideas about WHAT to do in this bonding time.

Here are 5 ideas:
#1: Make your own board or card games. Get a supply of coloured cards or a large cardboard, scissors, glue and anything else you may want to use to make some fun games. The kids get freedom to write their own rules and design their own accessories for it.

#2: Make an obstacle course. Use what you have! Things like old boxes, pieces of wood, buckets, garden chairs — anything that can be jumped over, climbed under or dodged. Tell the children to time each other around the course. To get creative, the course can be completed on a bicycle, scooter, skateboard, or on foot.

#3: Build a vegetable patch. Dedicate a small patch in the garden to the kids. Plant flowers, herbs, lettuce — anything that grows quickly and gives them a chance to look after something and watch it grow.

#4: Create a Summer Diary. Buy them an A4 notebook and let them keep a Summer Diary or scrapbook. They can take photos of special days and write about them. It will become a lovely memory book for them in the future — and also keep them busy for hours.

#5: Make a movie. Using just a smart phone, they can create their own movie. They must write their own script and direct it on their own. If they prefer they can use the patio outside and go full broadway for the family on Christmas day.
