BREAKING NEWS🚨l KwaZulu-Natal's top police official, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, says law enforcement is engaged in a "war" after a dramatic standoff with corruption investigators in Pretoria on Thursday. Both he and Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo were reportedly summoned to the Brooklyn Police Station, with Khumalo even told to bring an overnight bag, suggesting an arrest was imminent. However, when they arrived, officials from the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) were nowhere to be found, and their lawyer later received a call advising them not to proceed.

Mkhwanazi has questioned the legitimacy of the process, expressing concern that officials can be called in and then called off within an hour due to unspecified senior intervention. While IDAC has denied that any arrest took place and insists no warrant was issued, the police commissioner remains defiant. He has previously accused powerful figures of obstructing his work, and his latest remarks reinforce his belief that he is up against forces determined to undermine his crime-fighting efforts.
