It is named after Richard Feynman, the celebrated theoretical physicist who won the 1965 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on quantum electrodynamics.

He observed that complexity and jargon are often used to mask a lack of understanding.

Put simply, if someone uses a lot of fancy words to explain something to you, they probably don't understand it as well as they think!

It's easy to overcomplicate and intimidate - we all know people who try to do this!

We recently made a research with a Grade 12 learner who struggled with exam performance and submitting their given homework on time.

With an analysis we got, we’ve explored how procrastination is an emotion-regulation problem. Most teens procrastinate because they feel anxious and overwhelmed and so avoid the work to avoid negative emotions.

Without judgement, we asked the learner to share his thoughts on what advise he would give himself. His ideas flowed freely and we came up with some new ideas that he will use to help him minimise distraction.

The learner thrived when given autonomy and was able to take responsibility to fashion his own path to success!

Here’s a bonus SIX steps to help you solve your academic problems.

🌟 Step 1: Identify and define the problem. State the problem as clearly as possible

•Be specific about the behaviour, situation, timing, and circumstances that make it a problem.

For example: “I have 2 assignments due on Monday, and I don’t have enough time to cover both at this give time that I have on hand.”

🌟 Step 2: Generate possible solutions.

• Try to list at least 5-10 solutions, be creative and forget about the quality of the solution.

If you allow yourself to be creative you may come up with some solutions that you would not otherwise have thought about.

🌟 Step 3: Evaluate alternatives

• The next step is to go through and eliminate less desirable or unreasonable solutions.

Evaluate the remaining solutions in terms of their advantages and disadvantages.

🌟 Step 4: Decide on a solution

• Specify how the solution will be implemented.

🌟 Step 5: Implement the solution

• Implement the solution as planned.

🌟 Step 6: Evaluate the outcome

• Evaluate how effective the solution was.

If you are not pleased with the outcome, return to step 2 to select a new solution or revise the existing solution, and repeat the remaining steps.

A lot of people say that they want to develop a reading habit but are unable to due to a lack of time.

I was one of those people myself at one point in my life. I have used a number of tricks to help me read more and develop a daily reading habit. I have outlined these below.

Here are 5 tips for how to develop a reading habit at home:

🌟 Read a variety of different types of books at the same time

🌟 Try out different formats (like eBooks & audiobooks)

🌟 Stop reading books that aren’t inspiring you
