The CIDRA Europe-Africa Dialogue with the European Union and the University of Johannesburg's (UJ) Faculty of Humanities and IPATC Institute for Pan-African Thought And Conversation cordially invites you to the fourth instalment of the CIDRA-UJ Roundtable Series as we explore the “Trade Enablers and Impediments for SADC Integration.” This timely conversation will explore the opportunities, constraints and institutional dynamics shaping deeper trade and economic integration across the SADC region.

For IPATC, it was an opportunity to share our ongoing work in advancing community-engaged research, Pan-African knowledge production, and partnerships that connect scholarship with lived realities.

🤝IPATC Hosts TESIECS to Explore Collaboration in Community Engagement

As part of our ongoing community engagement efforts, the Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation (IPATC) hosted the UJ team from the TESIECS Intra-Africa mobility project Sinethemba Sidloyi for a constructive, forward-looking engagement on areas of collaboration.

The discussion explored opportunities to connect student and staff mobility with meaningful academic support, research development, and community-based engagement.

This initiative reflects IPATC’s broader commitment to linking knowledge production with our communities and building partnerships that create practical, impactful, and transformative experiences for students.

We look forward to strengthening this relationship and exploring ways to advance learning, innovation, and social impact together.

You are cordially invited to a roundtable discussion to a roundtable discussion titled "Russia's Priorities in BRICS and Africa".

This discussion explores the intersection of BRICS foreign policies, Russia’s strategic posture, and Africa’s evolving role in a rapidly transforming global order. As the BRICS bloc expands its influence beyond economic cooperation to encompass geopolitical coordination, member states’ foreign policy orientations increasingly shape global governance debates, South–South solidarity, and alternative models of development partnership. Russia’s engagement with Africa—anchored in energy, security, and diplomatic collaboration—illustrates how BRICS actors are redefining their external relations to counterbalance Western dominance while pursuing diversified global alliances. A dialogue on BRICS foreign policies, with particular attention to Russia–Africa relations, is thus critical to assess how these interactions affect Africa’s agency, regional integration, and pursuit of sustainable development. Such engagement provides an opportunity to clarify Africa’s strategic interests within BRICS diplomacy and to consider pathways for a more equitable and multipolar international system.
