Rootella® Delivers Up to 24.5% Higher Soybean Yield in Free State Commercial Field Comparison

Commercial soybean results from the Hoopstad area, Free State, have provided encouraging evidence of the potential value of Rootella® mycorrhizal technology.

Across two Don Mario cultivars, Rootella-treated areas produced higher harvested yields than their respective untreated controls.

Rootella: 4.01 t/ha
Increase: +0.79 t/ha | +24.5%

Don Mario DM6.8i
Control: 3.61 t/ha
Rootella: 4.21 t/ha
Increase: +0.60 t/ha | +16.6%

Across both comparisons, the simple mean improvement was approximately +0.695 t/ha, or +20.4%.

These were commercial field comparisons rather than replicated statistical trials, so the results should be interpreted accordingly. What makes the outcome particularly interesting is that the yield differences were supported by observations throughout the season.

THE DIFFERENCE STARTED BELOW GROUND

The grower reported better-developed root systems, greater visible Rhizobium nodulation and more potential flowering sites in the Rootella-treated soybeans.

Following severe hail damage, the Rootella-treated crop was also observed to recover faster than the untreated crop.

Rootella® contains highly concentrated arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi that establish a symbiotic relationship with plant roots. Their microscopic hyphal network extends beyond the root zone, helping the plant explore a greater volume of soil for nutrients and water.

SAWS, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology and IRI now agree: a strong El Niño is building and is set to hold through the 2026/27 summer season, with Pacific sea-surface temperatures tracking more than 2°C above normal.
