The Blue Pit Viper (Trimeresurus insularis) inspired the character of Gary in the new Disney movie Zootropolis 2. This species is known for its striking blue coloration and its remarkable ability to sense heat using specialized pit organs, located between the eye and nostril on each side of the head.

By controlling rodent populations and helping maintain balance in natural ecosystems, this venomous snake plays an important role that benefits both wildlife and humans. Learning about them helps transform fear into understanding and respect 🌍💙
