BRICS is now bigger than the G7.

Not in the future. Not "soon."

Already. And it happened years ago.

📊 BRICS: 40.7% of the world economy
📊 G7: 28.4%

Measured by purchasing power — what money actually buys inside a country — the eleven BRICS states passed the G7 and never looked back.

Here's how fast it flipped 👇

In the early 1990s, the G7 held about 45% of world output. The original BRICS held 16%. It wasn't a rivalry. It was a different universe.

Then China industrialised. India became one of the fastest-growing economies on earth. Brazil expanded. Russia clawed its way back from the collapse of the 90s.

The lines crossed in 2019.

31.06% to 30.98%.

Eight hundredths of a percentage point. After two centuries of Western economic dominance, the lead changed hands — and nobody announced it.

⚡ AND THE GAP IS STILL WIDENING

🇮🇳 India: growing 6.5%
🇮🇩 Indonesia: 5%
🇨🇳 China: 4.4%
🌍 G7 average: around 1.6%

Growth like that compounds. Factories get built. Cities expand. Consumers get richer. Repeat for twenty years and the map is unrecognisable.

🛑 BUT HERE'S WHAT NOBODY ELSE WILL TELL YOU

💵 In dollars, the G7 is still far bigger. $46 trillion against $33 trillion. And dollars — not purchasing power — are what you use to buy foreign debt, settle trade and borrow on world markets.

👤 Per person, it isn't close. About $9,437 a head in BRICS. $53,623 in the G7. Six times richer.

🇨🇳 And China alone is roughly 64% of BRICS output. "BRICS overtakes the G7" is largely "China overtakes the G7" — with ten other countries in the room.

A bloc can be enormous and still be poor. BRICS is both.

❌ AND NO, THERE IS NO BRICS CURRENCY

There is no BRICS euro. No launch date. India — this year's host — has said publicly it doesn't support one, and its central bank says the payment proposals are still at the discussion stage.

Anyone telling you otherwise this week is selling something.

🏦 WHAT THEY'RE ACTUALLY BUILDING

The New Development Bank. Founded 2015, headquartered in Shanghai. Around $44 billion approved across 139 projects — railways, water systems, clean energy, housing.

Increasingly lending in members' own currencies instead of dollars, so a South African project earning rand doesn't carry dollar debt.

Plus a cross-border payments system, so Brazil and China can trade without routing through a third country's money.

None of that makes headlines. All of it changes the plumbing.

🗓️ Leaders meet in New Delhi on 12–13 September. Putin is confirmed. Beijing still hasn't said whether Xi is coming.

💬 So — should BRICS stay a loose coalition, or become a tightly coordinated bloc? Tell us below.

Prof. Jiang Xueqin, is discussing his theory about who actually holds power in the global system.

His argument begins with the idea of “transnational capital” money that can move across borders and invest wherever it sees opportunities for profit. He points to things such as pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and major investment institutions as examples.

From there, he argues that global finance is essentially a competitive game. His controversial position is that simply following the rules and working hard isn’t necessarily enough to win. According to him, powerful players gain an advantag through cheating.

Do you agree with his argument or does he go too far?

Professor Jiang argues that Hormuz is strategically critical because major Gulf oil producers depend on maritime routes through the area to export energy. He describes the strait as essentially a narrow “one-way street” connecting Gulf producers to global markets.

He then introduces the idea of an “escalation ladder.”

His basic argument is that conflicts can intensify step by step. One side takes an action, the other responds with something more severe, and the cycle continues.

Watch the full conversation and hear Professor Jiang’s complete argument about where the Iran conflict could be heading.

Do you think his “escalation ladder” is a realistic warning—or is he taking the worst-case scenario too far?

🚨 Europe is preparing to turn up the pressure on Russia.

The European Union and NATO have pledged a stronger response after Germany accused Russia of being behind an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport.

The incident happened on 4 August, when a drone carrying explosives was discovered near a runway at the airport. German authorities say their investigation, including the drone’s configuration, components, explosives and detonator, points to Russian involvement and fits a pattern associated with previous Russian hybrid operations.

Russia has rejected the accusation and called Germany’s claims unfounded.

The German government has already announced measures against Moscow, including plans to close Russia’s consulate in Bonn and increase pressure through sanctions and other restrictions.

On Wednesday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described the Leipzig incident as a new escalation on EU territory. She said Europe needs to respond more quickly and strengthen measures aimed at Russia’s ability to finance its war.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed full solidarity with Germany and warned that the alliance must be prepared to deal with increasingly aggressive actions, including threats involving drones and other forms of hybrid activity.

EU foreign ministers are also discussing additional sanctions, while European governments continue to consider ways to strengthen support for Ukraine, including air-defence assistance.

The developments come as Germany investigates other suspected acts of sabotage involving critical infrastructure. Authorities have not established who was responsible for those separate incidents.

With tensions between Russia and Europe continuing to rise, do you think the EU and NATO should increase pressure on Moscow further, or would that risk escalating the confrontation?

🚨 163 missing children have been recovered across Florida — including 41 in the Miami area.

A five-day law-enforcement operation has brought hundreds of agencies and partner organizations together in an effort to locate missing and vulnerable children.

Known as Operation Statewide Shield, the initiative ran from August 17 to 21 and focused on identifying, locating and recovering missing children under 18.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the children recovered ranged in age from just 2 months to 17 years old. Authorities said many had experienced abuse, neglect, exploitation or exposure to other criminal activity.

The Miami area accounted for 41 recoveries, while other regional totals included 46 in Tampa Bay, 32 in Jacksonville, 21 in Orlando, 12 in Fort Myers, eight in Pensacola and three in the Tallahassee region.

The operation extended beyond Florida as well, with recoveries reported in six other states, one U.S. territory and 12 countries.

Officials said the children were connected with services following their recovery, including medical care, social services and victim-support resources. Multiple investigations stemming from the operation remain ongoing.

The operation was led by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in partnership with state, local and federal agencies and community organizations.

What do you think is most important when it comes to helping missing children return safely and supporting them after they are found?

🇺🇸🛢️ Trump says Venezuelan oil will help refill America’s emergency oil reserve.

President Donald Trump says the United States will use oil from a newly established agreement with Venezuela to replenish the country’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).

Trump said the process of rebuilding the reserve, which he described as the “topping out” process, would begin shortly. He also characterized the Venezuelan oil as a “gift” to the American people.

The announcement comes as the U.S. emergency oil stockpile remains heavily depleted. The SPR held about 290 million barrels as of August 21, its lowest level in roughly 44 years. The reserve has been drawn down during periods of major global supply disruptions and elevated energy prices.

The plan is tied to a broader U.S.-Venezuela oil agreement aimed at increasing Venezuelan production. However, analysts and industry sources note that Venezuela’s oil sector requires significant investment and infrastructure development before production can rise substantially. That means it is still unclear how quickly Venezuelan crude could contribute to rebuilding the U.S. reserve.

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve was created to provide the United States with an emergency supply of crude oil during major disruptions to energy markets.

Do you think using Venezuelan oil to rebuild the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve is a practical long-term strategy?

THE END OF AN ERA FOR ARGENTINA 🇦🇷

Lionel Messi has officially brought his international career with Argentina to an end.

The 39-year-old announced his retirement from the national team on Monday, closing a remarkable chapter that began with his Argentina debut in 2005. His final appearance came in the 2026 World Cup final, where Argentina lost 1–0 to Spain after extra time.

Messi leaves Argentina as the country’s record appearance-maker and all-time leading scorer, with 207 international matches and 125 goals.

His international journey included years of difficult defeats before finally delivering major trophies. He helped Argentina win the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and another Copa América title in 2024. He also captained Argentina to the 2026 World Cup final.

In announcing his decision, Messi said the choice was painful but that he understood the time had come. He also pointed to the talented younger players coming through the national team.

Although his final tournament did not end with another World Cup triumph, Messi’s international career closes with Argentina having won some of its biggest trophies during his time as captain.

The Argentine Football Association thanked Messi for his contribution and described his legacy and professionalism as something that would remain with the country.

After two decades in Argentina’s colours, the captain is stepping away from international football.

Tyson is challenging the way people think about zodiac signs and astrology.

He explains why ancient people may have connected constellations with events on Earth. In an agricultural society, observing where certain constellations appeared in the sky could help people track seasons and determine when to plant or harvest. Over time, humans began giving those celestial patterns deeper meaning—including the idea that the stars could somehow tell us something about ourselves.

👇 Tell us your zodiac sign—and whether Tyson changed your mind.
