Our South African youth are wonderful and determine to live in a better environment then what they are used to. Not talk down to them with lies and false promises. We need to bring them up to standard of world education and stop having pity on them because of their past. Today we are here – yesterday is our history and we should not drag the youth further into a history that we will regret through our own selfish needs. THEY ARE OUR FUTURE...
We promised them a Matric pass and a good education that this would give them a future but we left out the fact that this needed to be qualified with certain subjects – that could be difficult at times – instead gave them the easy road to get them out of the system. We got them out of the education system and then left them for dead in the big world and blamed it on the labour system. It’s always easier to blame it on someone or something else, then actually do something about it. This is real and we have a crisis. We need to pay attention and listen to what is needed. We can fix this but we need your ideas, help or what ever you can do that will make a difference. We need to lobby for:
• Promoting keeping the youth at school – until they qualify and pass to the next grade.
• Creating community involvement in each school.
• Higher standard of education.
• Spending more of the budget on extra lessons and more focused education.
• Correct information and truthful input across all levels and areas of schooling
• Promoting more positive outcomes for the youth and their teachers
Teachers:
• Professional training of teachers.
• The performance evaluation of teachers.
• Performance-related salaries for teachers. For the rest of those directly involved – we need to take responsibility for their future and for all of us that can give a hand.
