A Moment Worth Revisiting | Knowing Who You Are
Looking back at a special session hosted by Dr Sipho Sithole with our MICM students, centred around two important questions: Who am I? Where are my roots?
Dr Sithole encouraged our young musicians to understand that knowing where they come from is an important part of developing their own artistic voice. As aspiring musicians, their identity, heritage and lived experiences can become the very source that makes their work distinctive and authentic.
Dr Sithole is a respected South African music executive, cultural practitioner, academic and author who has made a significant contribution to South African music and the development of artists.
We are grateful for moments like these, where our students have an opportunity to learn not only how to make music, but how to understand themselves as artists.
