On Saturday, my dad turned 90.
We celebrated with a family lunch, and as I looked around the table, I found myself thinking about the lessons he’s taught me over the years, the kind you don’t find in a textbook, but that shape how you show up in life and in business.
A few that have stayed with me…
🔹 Who said life would be fair? Stop waiting for fairness. Play the hand you’re dealt, and play it well.
🔹 Lend without expecting it back. If it’s returned, be grateful. Generosity with no strings attached is a mark of character, not weakness.
🔹 Always work hard. There’s no substitute for it, no shortcut that replaces consistent, honest effort.
🔹 Take care of your family. Success means little if the people closest to you aren’t cared for along the way.
🔹 Love God and others. Everything else is built on this foundation.
As a business coach, I talk a lot about strategy, performance, and growth. But some of the best leadership lessons I know didn’t come from a boardroom, they came from my dad, at our dinner table.
Happy 90th, Dad. I am blessed to still have you in my life. Thank you for everything you’ve taught me. 🎉
