⚽️ PLAY FOR CHANGE: Kick-Starting Conversations to End GBV! 🏃‍♂️💨

Gender-Based Violence remains one of the most urgent social challenges in South Africa. While supporting women and girls is vital, we must actively include our boys and young men in conversations about prevention, healthy masculinity, and respect.

That is why on Saturday, 20 June 2026, Angels’ Care Centre is hosting the “Play for Change” Football Tournament & Boys Inclusion GBV Outreach at Thembelihle School! We are bringing together 4 local U15 football teams (80 players, plus coaches and officials) to use the unifying power of sport as a safe space for dialogue and education.

Alongside a round-robin tournament, our GBV Outreach Session—featuring the Angels’ Care Crisis Team, Pastor Sandile, and Spho from the Jes Foord Foundation—will tackle critical topics including positive masculinity, respect for women and girls, mental wellness, and substance abuse prevention.

🤝 How You Can Help Us Make a Difference
We need our incredible community to help us cover the event costs and make this day a massive success for these young men. We are looking for local businesses, families, and sponsors to help us fund our R6,540 total budget:

🏅 R1,000 for 36 Medals & 2x Soccer Balls
🚽 R1,500 for Portaloo rentals
🥪 R3,540 for Refreshments (120 sandwiches and bulk juice)
🥤 R500 for Miscellaneous items (serviettes and cups)

🌟 Sponsor Benefits: All sponsors can have prominent brand visibility at the event, as well as dedicated social media recognition.

🚨 URGENT: 7 HOMES DESTROYED BY FIRE 🚨

Yesterday, a devastating fire tore through our community, leaving 7 local families with absolutely nothing. In a matter of minutes, everything they owned was turned to ash.

First, we want to say a massive THANK YOU to our incredible community, who consistently donate items throughout the year. We were able to assist children immediately with uniform, winter warm clothes and blankets and household items were put togther to handout. This helps bring comfort and dignity to these families during a time of total heartbreak. Your generosity is what makes us strong.

The road to rebuilding however has just begun, and we still need your help. As these families work to pick up the pieces, we are putting out an urgent appeal for support. If you are clearing out your cupboards or scaling down, please consider donating:

👕 Clothing & Shoes (All ages, especially warm winter wear)
🍳 Kitchen Essentials (Pots, pans, plates, cups, and utensils)
🏡 Household Items (Blankets, bedding, curtains, and basic furniture)
🧼 Hygiene Products & Non-Perishable Food
Every single item helps.
📍 Drop-off Point: Angels Care Centre (2 Falls Drive)

Thank you for standing with us, for your endless compassion, and for helping us bring hope back to these families. Please share this post to help us spread the word! 🙏👇

🚀 BRIDGING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE WITH MATHU & THE FANAKA FOUNDATION! 📱📐

We are absolutely thrilled and incredibly grateful to the Fanaka Foundation for their phenomenal generosity in sponsoring MathU to come and train 40 of our high school students on how to use their cutting-edge mobile learning app! 🌟

MathU uses state-of-the-art software engineering and Artificial Intelligence to beautifully map, monitor, and assess a student's mathematical progress across both the CAPS and IEB curriculums. Through this game-changing sponsorship:
✨ Each student received a specialized booklet packed with grade-level info.
✨ Our centre was gifted with brand-new smartphones to seamlessly run the program and app with our youth!

This is a true "this can't be real" milestone for our high school tutoring program. In a world where 21st-century educational tools can feel out of reach, this digital bridge is empowering our youth with the exact resources they need to change their life stories forever.

Thank you, Fanaka Foundation, for believing in our mission, expanding accessibility to education, and making such a heartfelt investment in our children's futures! 💙✨

We were so excited to have the Mini Medics program at the Angels Care After-School Programme last week!

In many of our communities, ambulance response times can be delayed, meaning family members—including children—are often the very first responders in an emergency. This life-changing initiative by the Africa Institute of Emergency Medicine (AIEM) is transforming our students into confident, capable "Mini Medics" who can step up when it matters most.

A massive thank you to the Fanaka Foundation (Proudly sponsored by DNI) for their incredible generosity in sponsoring this program. Your support is directly empowering our children with essential, age-appropriate skills, including:

- Hands-on CPR training to restore the "rhythm of hope."
- Choking management and life-saving backslaps.
- Treating bleeding and burns effectively.
- Water safety and dehydration management.
- Stroke recognition and symptom awareness.

We also want to extend a special thank you for the First Aid training provided to our staff. By equipping our team with these vital skills and providing them with First Aid certificates, you are ensuring a safer environment for every child in our care.

By teaching our children and staff how to handle medical emergencies, we aren't just teaching a skill—we are building confidence and empowering our community to be heroes. A huge thank you to AIEM and DNI for helping us protect our children's futures!

Celebrating our very first Grandparents Day at Angels Care! 🌟

Last Friday was a truly special milestone as we welcomed grandparents into our classrooms to spend precious time with the little ones. The day was a resounding success, filled with smiles and stories, followed by a large community picnic. We were so grateful for the perfect cool weather and clear skies that allowed us to enjoy our tea and coffee outdoors.

Seeing the generations come together reminds us of the incredible community support that helps Angels Care transform lives every day.

🏆 CHAMPIONS! FC Angels Bring Home the Gold! 🏆⚽

What an incredible Easter weekend for our girls! FC Angels competed in the annual Gerald Mgababa Dlamini Easter Tournament, organized by the uMngeni Local Football Association and sponsored by the uMngeni Municipality. This year was extra special as it featured a dedicated girls' league, and our team truly rose to the occasion!

The Road to Victory:
✅ First Match: A solid 2-0 win against Blackpool, with Amahle Zuma netting both goals!
✅ The Final: A dominant 4-1 victory against the Giant Killers from Lidgetton!

The final was a test of nerves—playing in front of a capacity crowd for the first time, the girls had a slow start in the first half. However, they showed incredible character, coming back in the second half to play their signature game and seal the win! 🌟

Individual Honors:
🧤 Goalkeeper of the Tournament: Seluleko! Her incredible performance earned her well-deserved Mugg & Bean and Milky Lane vouchers.
⚽ Top Goalscorer: Amahle Zuma, who was unstoppable with a total of 5 goals across the tournament!
📋 Coach of the Tournament: Our very own Desmond Sokhela!

We are so proud of the grit, talent, and sportsmanship these young women displayed on the field. Thank you to the organizers and sponsors for a fantastic event that empowers our local athletes! 👏✨
