A Celebration of Talent & Vision: Matric Visual Art Exhibition

The Team Teaching Room at Howick High School was recently transformed into a vibrant gallery space for our annual Grade 12 Visual Art Exhibition. We are immensely proud of the dedication, technical skill, and creative storytelling displayed by our Matric artists.

Their works demonstrated remarkable versatility across mediums, from detailed etchings and still-life studies to playful, tactile ceramic sculptures.

The artists displayed exceptional pencil technique and printmaking mastery, ranging from emotive facial expression studies to striking linocut prints and surreal compositions.

We congratulate Mrs Beard and our Grade 12 Visual Art learners on an extraordinary body of work! Your passion, hard work, and unique artistic voices shone brightly.

Another fantastic day of 7s Rugby for Howick High School at the Aquelle Wembley 7s Tournament .

Our 1st team gave a brilliant response after a challenging pool stage, where they faced Michaelhouse 1st, George Campbell High and Ferrum 1st, losing two games and winning one.

The team produced two dominant performances in the knockout stage wining their games convincingly against Michaelhouse and Linpark High School to bring the Bowl Trophy home to Howick!

Our 2nd team competed with great determination throughout the pool stage, facing strong opposition in Gelofte 1st, Michaelhouse 2nd and Greytown High 1st and did not progress to the knockout rounds.

Jody Momple Boys' Soccer Tournament: Action, grit, and unwavering team spirit on display!

Highlights from our Howick High School 1st Team Boys’ Soccer squad at the Jody Momple Boys' Soccer Tournament at Hilton College capture a weekend filled with hard-fought battles, resilience, and true sportsmanship.

Facing tough opposition throughout the tournament, our boys showed tremendous character and heart on the pitch, using every moment as an opportunity to grow and fight for the badge.

The tournament kicked off on Saturday, 28 August with a tough opening day against strong opponents. Despite determined efforts, the team lost their games against Etham College and Edendale Technical College. Even in defeat, the boys showed great resolve by battling hard to put two goals on the board against Edendale, earning their place in the Bowl section.

The team returned to the field with renewed fire and intensity for Day 2. They delivered a statement performance in Game 3, putting on a clinical display to take a thrilling victory against Grace College and progressing to the Bowl Semi-Final.

The boys gave everything they had in the semi-final match against Kokstad College , in a nail-biting, end-to-end clash, narrowly falling 1-0 in a deeply competitive match.

Credit goes to every player who took the field. Bouncing back on day two with a dominant win and pushing all the way to the semi-finals shows the heart and depth of this team. Heads up, high spirits, and onto the next fixture!

⚽U19 Midlands Cup Soccer Tournament

What an incredible two days of soccer at Howick High! We were proud to host 16 top school teams from across the Midlands and Durban for a thrilling, high-energy U19 Midlands Cup Girls’ Soccer Tournament over the weekend of 29 and 30 August.

Our Howick High team delivered a unforgettable performance to take 2nd Place overall:

In the Group Stage the girls displayed grit, battling through a tough pool which included Carter High School Pietermaritzburg, St John's D.S.G., and Alexandra High School, with outstanding teamwork to top the group and reach the semi-final match.

In a dramatic semi-final the team held their nerve in a fiercely contested match against St Anne's Diocesan College, securing a win in a tense penalty shoot-out.

The girls played a hard-fought match, giving everything on the pitch in an intense 1–0 final against Kloof High School to take home the runner-up silver medals.

We congratulate 3 Howick High players who were selected for the official tournament Dream Team: Cas Blackburn, Megan Webb and Kayte'lee Biggar.

We take this opportunity to thank The Midlands Girls' Soccer Committee, all the players, coaches, and energetic supporters who made this event a success. 💙💛🦁

A total rewind to the 80s! 📼✨

​Last night’s Grade 9 Dance was a massive success! Our students brought the ultimate retro energy to the floor, rocking shutter shades and dancing the night away under a giant Rubik’s cube and glowing disco balls.

Lights, camera, confidence! 🎭

Our brand-new Howick High School Drama Club took to the stage at assembly this week for their very first performance, treating us to an unforgettable rendition of "Welcome to the 60s" from the musical Hairspray.

The talented Kaelin Crosby portrayed Edna, capturing her transformation from insecure and reclusive to absolute glamour. Encouraged by her vibrant, optimistic daughter Tracy (played wonderfully by Anna Hind) and a lively ensemble of downtown residents, Edna traded the strict rules of the 1950s for a bold, modern dress and a whole lot of self-love.

Seeing Edna step into the bright, energetic spirit of the 1960s was the perfect debut for our performers. Congratulations to Miss Lwandi Hlela (Director), Kaelin, Anna, and the entire cast and crew for bringing so much energy to our stage. The future of drama at Howick High is looking bright! 🌟
