SHARING SUCCESS: Astounded by the difference Mind Moves has made

Lisa Bezuidenhout, our Advanced Mind Moves Instructor in White River, proudly shares this success story of a little girl who experienced separation anxiety and had problems with bilateral integration, proprioception and perceptual skills. Her Mom brought her to Lisa for an assessment and after that her world changed, thanks to Lisa’s ability to successfully address these learning barriers.

Her mom wrote: “I have been completely astounded by the difference Mind Moves has made in such a short space of time.”

Her Grade 1 teacher is also amazed by the difference in this little girl: “She has almost no reversals now and is able to correctly form her letters in the correct lines. Amazing!”

QUESTION:

When should we ‘test’ for school readiness?

ANSWER:

Learning readiness is determined constantly throughout the child’s life – from birth right up to Grade 12 – whereas school readiness is determined at different ages and in different months of the year. If the reason for testing is to determine if the child is progressing, you can test in any month of the year. If the reason for testing is to determine if the child is school ready, the right time to test is at the end of the year.

WHY ARE ADVANCED MIND MOVES INSTRUCTORS SO EXCITED ABOUT MIND MOVES?

We asked a few of our March Group of students this question, and they wowed us with their answers:

~Lauren Smythe: “I am so excited to be able to assist parents and children who are so frustrated and feel as if their child is under-performing or else who have been given a list of problems a mile long. I am so excited as I feel Mind Moves gives people hope, empowers them to become actively involved in working with their children and avoids the stigma of labels. Mind Moves make so much sense and is so simple to implement. I am excited as, at the moment, the educational world is clearly getting it wrong. More and more children are not coping academically, there is more academic pressure and people are busier. Mind Moves provides a small scope in order to make a direct, tangible difference in people’s lives on impacts on their relationships.”

~Carien Opperman: ”I love the fact that, for once in my career as a teacher, there is not only explanations, but also solutions to learning barriers. That there are actually ways to help learners who are struggling academically and socially. I love the fact that even a small difference in their behaviour and understanding is such a big deal for myself, the parents and the learner. I am excited to be able to make a difference, even if it’s small.”

~Charnene van den Heever: “To experience that there is hope to develop the hidden potential of learners and to overcome their learning barriers. It makes me excited to know that that we can extend their ‘limitations’ and strengthen their abilities. In the whole journey of development of a child, I feel that the parents are often the ones most aware of their children’s barriers. They take the most punches in the process of development of their children. Being able to give them, the parents, new hope, is priceless.
The growth that I have experienced within myself and my own life since Mind Moves came into my life gives me high expectation of what can be reached.”

Don’t YOU want to experience what these students are experiencing and be part of this exciting world, created by the amazing Dr Melodie de Jager, where we help children, parents and teachers that desperately need help? If so, don’t hesitate to apply for registration NOW if you have a valid educational qualification and 6 years classroom experience. It will change your life too!

HOW CAN I HELP MY CHILD TO FIT IN
Dr Melodie de Jager

When a day starts with: “mommy, I have a sore tummy” STOP and listen, your child needs YOU to hear what she is NOT saying. She doesn’t say it because she doesn’t know what it is, but she is feeling sad, afraid, left-out, abandoned, alone, frightened or one of many other emotions that goes hand in hand with a dry mouth and a sore tummy.

Yes, it might be due to what he/she ate last night, but if a sore tummy appears regularly stop in your tracks, and ask yourself:
Does a sore tummy only ‘appear’ in the morning?
Does your child drag his/her feet before school?
Any tears before school?
Does the lunch box come back unopened?
If you drive past the school during break time, is she/he on her own?
What is her friend’s name?

The digestive track (tummy) and the brain have a very delicate relationship, if the one is unhappy, the other one echoes it. You must have experienced it for yourself: when the heart is happy, the tummy smiles too; when the tummy is happy the thinking is clear, but when the heart is sad, thinking becomes cloudy and a dry mouth and a sore / tight / constipated / runny tummy follows.
• A hug a day keeps a sore tummy away
• Encourage looking at others when they are talking
• Encourage listening, discourage interrupting
• Enroll your child in a group activity – pottery, dance, soccer
• Ask the teacher to identify and pair her during class activities with a child who is also looking for a friend
• Attend school functions, mingle and make new friends. Children look-and-learn from you
• Arrange play dates.

Start each day with these two confidence boosting and tummy soothing Mind Moves®:
Mind Moves Massage
Firmly trace her silhouette from top to toe, and plant her feet firmly on the ground while saying: I am a friend magnet. Massage her silhouette at least three times.

Rise & Shine
Stand behind her (she needs to face the world) and ask her to take a deep breath and give herself a tight hug. Give her a bear hug. A slow deep breath with every big hug.

Increasingly, we notice learners moving about in class; ‘needing’ to throw a paper away; sharpen a pencil; go to the toilet; fidget; rock; bounce, etc. In an attempt to satisfy the learners’ need to move, many educationists have suggested the use of stress balls to keep the hands moving; sitti...
