It’s hard to put into words what Conraad de Rosner of K9 conservation was.

Tough as nails, determined and passionate about nature and animals. Nothing he had was handed to him and he worked hard. He played hard too.

We took this photo nearly 9 years ago when we came to learn how to train dogs with him. We moved to Hoedspruit because of that visit and in no small part were inspired to work dogs because of that time. We never worked k9s in anti-poaching, in part because of my background in research, in part because I was not tough or brave enough.

Although he worked was battle hardened he was one of the few security handlers I met who truly loved and cared for his dogs with compassion.

Our community has lost a man, rhinos have lost a dedicated protector who gave all he had to save them.

We are sad and shocked tonight. Rest in peace Conraad, and hopefully dance to some terrible tunes while you’re up there.

This man could change the world, not just for stray dogs, but world hunger, homelessness and more. Elliot who was rescued from a certain euthanasia wants to know, what would you spend a trillion dollars on?
