I have just heard the tragic news that one of our alumni, Ryan (Mlibo) Booi passed away on Saturday evening. They were very young, still in High School with so much of life still ahead. Ryan kept in touch and always visited when they were in this area. I remember all our Monday morning classes when we talked too much and did too little music theory, but now, looking back, I'm so comforted we shared those special times. Thank you for Limpopo the fluffy tiger we can cuddle to remember you. Rest in Peace precious one. 💜

A really big thank you to Miley Cyrus for winning the Grammy and for an inspiringly bang on performance! Choosing what to sing to connect with young women, that just made it real easy. Especially as she's climbing back up the charts right now.
By way of introduction: "Don't be a victim. If you think you're going to get through life without getting your heart broken at least once you're probably doing it wrong. So when it happens get even. Get your voice back. Get a new dress. Get fit. Write a song. Get famous. Get rich. Win a Grammy." Tracy Stark 2024
Thanks Miley.
So I teased my hair like it was 1980, zipped up my new jeans, wriggled into some kick-ass boots, grabbed the mic and together, the girls and me, we rocked the house! THANK YOU ALL!

Wow! What an amazing Eisteddfod we had here at Songworks yesterday. We always host the contemporary instrument section and what a brilliant line up we had, drummers, keyboard, and vocalists from a number of local schools, most notably from St Anne's, The Wykeham Collegiate, Cowan House, Carlyle College, Howick Prep, Epworth, St Johns and our great friends St Charles. Thanks Kirsten for your amazing support on the day and of course to all the parents who showed up to be part of our audience. Massive thanks to Debi Mari from the Centre for Contemporary Music at KZN who did a superb job of adjudicating and to Sheila (ex. Chairman of the PMB. South African Society of Music Teachers) who was our steward yesterday and all round fun person. Also to Jane Tongue for her hard work behind the scenes. A fun day, a joyously musical day and truly there were some brilliant performances; multitudes of Gold and Silver certificates all well-deserved. This is why we put in the work in class. I am so proud of you all! Shout out to the young musicians who don't know about our Eisteddfod; join us next year, spread the word. you need to be here!

Success in an international examination is something immensely valuable. It is a reward and validation for all the hard work and perseverance that goes with perfecting one's skill. Stepping into the exam room is an act of courage and all of these young people have triumphed over nerves and given their best. Their radiant smiles reflect what it means to them. No one can ever take away that achievement or that feeling. I am so proud of you all.

Hi Everyone! Of of our students is selling a drum kit (R6000) which is a very good price and the kit would suit a beginner drummer. Call us if you're interested and I'll give you a number to contact!
