Roseway Waldorf is taking part in the Electronic Cemetery E-Waste Recycling Challenge, and we need our community’s help to make a big impact! 🌿✨

By clearing out your unwanted electronics, you help promote responsible recycling and protect our environment. Plus, the organization that collects the most e-waste stands a chance to win R20,000 (or refurbished IT equipment of the same value) for our school or a chosen charity!

What You Can Bring:
Old laptops, computers, cables, chargers, appliances, and any unused electronic items sitting in your cupboards or offices.

Drop-off Location:
Please bring your items to School Reception.

Large Items:If you have larger electronic items or bulk quantities at home or work, let us know! We can arrange for direct collection by the service provider.

Challenge Dates:
The challenge ends on Monday, 12th October 2026, with the winner announced on 14th October 2026.

The rainy weather just made our open day more cozy.

We got to take families on a journey through the life of a Waldorf child. From play group to kindergarten, through the farm and all the way to Class 7.

Thank you to those who attended, Mr Bester and The Roses for hosting tours, and the teachers who took time out to talk to our guests and set up beautiful displays of what we do.

Today is our Founders day. It marks 41 years of Roseway Waldorf School.

These photos are from when the foundation stone was laid in 1988.

May there reign here spirit-strength in love,
May there work here spirit-light in goodness,
Born from certainty of heart
And from steadfastness of soul,
That we may bring to young human beings
Bodily strength for work,
Inner warmth of soul
And clarity of spirit.

May this place be consecrated to this task:
May young hearts and minds here find
Servers of the light, endowed with strength
Who will guard and cherish them.

Those who here lay the stone as a sign
Think in their hearts of the spirit
That shall reign in this place,
So that the foundation may be firm
Upon which there shall live, weave and work:
Wisdom that makes free
Spirit-power that strengthens,

If you’ve ever walked into a Waldorf classroom, your eyes were likely drawn straight to the chalkboard. But these aren’t just decorative drawings, they are a vital teaching tool.

At the start of each Main Lesson block, teachers spend hours carefully crafting an intricate, beautiful chalkboard drawing that remains on the board for weeks.

Engaging the Heart: A detailed, artistic illustration brings the main lesson narrative—whether it’s history, mythology, or botany—to life, sparking imagination before the textbook is even opened.

Inspiration & Respect: It sets a standard of beauty, care, and reverence in the classroom space. When children see the effort put into the artwork, it inspires them to take equal pride and effort in their own Main Lesson books.

Deepening Memory: Visual arts ground abstract concepts in the child’s mind, giving them a rich emotional entry point into the subject matter.

It’s another way we bring "head, heart, and hands" into daily learning. 🪵🌿
