Bringing Ancient Egypt to Life

On 17 September, our annual Egyptian Feast provided the perfect way to celebrate the culmination of our study of Ancient Egypt, with plenty of Memory Making Moments! The children arrived dressed in fantastic Egyptian costumes and enjoyed an incredible feast prepared by our parents.

The day was filled with fun, learning and plenty of Egyptian adventures! From dancing like Egyptians and mummy-wrapping races to four exciting activity stations, the children had the opportunity to put their learning into action. They made clay scarab beetles, created Egyptian scrolls using hieroglyphics, tested their problem-solving skills by constructing a shaduf and enjoyed a special devotion with Mrs Louw.

What a memorable way to bring Ancient Egypt to life and celebrate all that the children have learnt.

YAY! IT’S BREAK-UP DAY

What a wonderful morning as our children came dressed to celebrate their heritage or to support the work being done by the rangers who protect our precious rhino. We loved seeing all the colour, creativity and pride as we celebrated the rich cultures that make our school community so special.

And just like that… it’s holiday time!

To our wonderful Waterfall families, we wish you a happy, safe and restful holiday. Enjoy the time together, make special memories and come back ready for another exciting term! 💙

The Hillcrest climate is famous for bringing something special and this Tuesday gave us a little bit of everything - rain, hail and sunshine! So what did our Waterfall Prep teachers and children do?

Learning came to life for our Grade 5s during an exciting Processing Day in Natural Sciences and Technology, last week.

From turning jelly into something new to getting stuck into slime and finishing off with delicious chocolate mug cakes, our pupils had the chance to explore how different materials can be transformed through a variety of processes.

There was plenty of experimenting, creating, tasting and, of course, a whole lot of fun along the way!

A wonderful day of hands-on learning, curiosity and discovery, proving that sometimes the best way to learn is to get stuck in!

A day of cereal, creativity & learning: Our Grade 3s had a fun-filled day of learning that took them from the classroom to the breakfast table and beyond.

They started the day with a fun game of 'This or That: Cereal Edition', before putting their knowledge of adjectives to the test as they smelled, felt and tasted different cereals. Next, they designed their very own cereal boxes while learning how companies create products for a specific target market.

To finish off the day, they made delicious 'cornflake treats', practising their measurement skills and learning the importance of carefully following a recipe.

A whole day of learning, creating, tasting and having fun… No wonder our Grade 3s were ready for a good rest afterwards.
