Firstly, some background information .. Bella Shattock (Grade 8) is a bright young lady who is an above average student, but fails to reach her full potential in the classroom.
Her mum (Leigh-Ann Shattock) made the wise decision to enrol Bella with us here @ "Reading Optics Centre" to undergo our 20hr course of therapy.
We commenced on our advanced level and immediately got to work with foundation aspects.
Bella is an auditory learner, so we focused predominantly in the visual aspects of reading with comprehension skills (for at least the first 10 sessions) and then picked up again on the auditory side, combining the 2 towards the final stages of her therapy.
I must compliment her on her continued approach to her therapy, she was always conscientious and gave of her very best at all times (OK, there was the odd lapse in concentration, but we dealt with that and got her back on track)😆 .. Our students are informed from the very outset, that there is NO complacency during our sessions, they are kept on their toes and at the cutting edge in order for us as a "team'' to raise the bar.
It is always "first prize" when a student wants to be involved in our therapy and "buys" into the program, their results generally speak volumes, with Bella doing exactly that, we had some very special times working together, thank you.
Her final assessment results were mind blowing, she made improvements in all aspects of the therapy, and proved once again, that she is a bright young lady, but just needed "polishing" in a number of areas.
We don't teach students how to read, we show them how to perform it correctly to gain maximum benefits in the classroom and home environments.
Bella, you can be extremely proud of your achievements, well done, we wish you only the very best in your school career 👩‍🎓🏆

🤔 A QUESTION FREQUENTLY ASKED .. what is this VISAGRAPH that we refer to in our Reading Optics Centre to conduct Visual Skills & Reading assessments with ALL our students .. here is the answer folks 👨‍🏫

👀 THE VISAGRAPH is an infra-red eye recording machine (imported from Sweden & USA) that measures eye movements during oral and silent reading rates. It is able to record 120 eye movements per second – 60 in each eye. The results from the assessment gives us a huge amount of information about the movement of the eyes which otherwise would never have been revealed.
On conclusion of the initial assessment (we conduct initial & completion assessments), we are able to then give recommendations as to how we are able to improve their child’s reading ability and encourage them to reach full potential ..😍
