Grandparents’ Day at Weavers’ Nest is always such a highlight. We had two wonderful mornings set aside to celebrate our children’s grandparents.

The children were bursting with excitement, eager to welcome their visitors. They sang songs with proud little voices, shared thoughtful gifts they had made with care, and most importantly, enjoyed spending time together.

Storybook Evening is always such a special night at Weavers’ Nest.

Our little Weavers arrived in their cosiest pyjamas, collected their tickets, and followed the lit-up pathway to their classrooms, where a story was waiting for them. Each space had been transformed for the evening, with our teachers creating a cosy setting for the children to settle in and enjoy a story together.

And, of course, no pyjama evening would be complete without hot chocolate and a biscuit before heading home.

“Aren’t those tyres a bit heavy for them?” It’s a question we’re asked from time to time – and the answer is that the challenge is part of the learning.

We believe in giving children opportunities for ‘heavy work’: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and moving objects that challenge their growing bodies in an age-appropriate way.

Activities like this help build strong muscles and bones, while developing balance, coordination, body awareness, and confidence in what their bodies can do. And when lifting a tyre is a little too tricky, they quickly discover the value of another important skill – asking a friend to help.
