We are a small independent school in Sandbaai, serving the communities of Mount Pleasant and Zwelihle At the end of 2021 we had 200 children in the school.

Hermanus Waldorf School is situated 5 minutes from the centre of Hermanus, in Sandbaai, close to Zwelihle and Mount Pleasant. The school began as an integrated Kindergarten at the Camphill School in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in 1994. As the children reached primary school age, a class one was started in rented accommodation within Camphill. In July 2001, the whole school moved to our present locat

In January we started with our TVET College offering Primary Health and Electrical Infrastructure and Construction. Our Electrical students have been hard at work the last few months learning about Electrical Principles. Today they started soldering cicuits in our specially equipped Workshop and success!

Hermanus Library has been named the Public Library of the Year in the Western Cape, taking top honours at the Western Cape Government Cultural Affairs Awards held on Monday, 7 October, in Cape Town.

𝑯𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒔 𝑳𝒊𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒓𝒚’𝒔 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒔:
• Book launches in partnership with local businesses, including a well-attended event with Australian author Tony Park
• School group visits that include library orientation sessions and puppet shows
• Pet care education in partnership with Hermanus Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) to teach children how to care for their pets in a fun and educational way
• Helped Waldorf School in setting up its own school library
• Hosting the weekly Bhuki Café every Friday
• Fundraising to buy new books, including high teas and other events
• Visits to old age homes to bring reading to elderly residents

SANSA was in class 6, they learned about photosynthesis and about Living and Non-Living things, and also food webs. They explained a bit more about what they do at SANSA.

Bronwyn and her son, Rafaeli, from Germany, came to visit class 6 and brought gifts to the class. Class 6 enjoyed the visit and interaction with them. Thank you for your generosity.
