As you know, they go above and beyond for our awesome children. Being part of a small school is a privilege, but it also allows us to go beyond the reach to ensure that every child is seen and loved. We can't wait to present our South African take on a classic. While the storyline is similar, the story has been switched up.
With a couple of classics from the original, some South African favourites like Jabulani, Scatterlings, Searching for a Great Heart (broadcast by "The Breakfast with Martin Bester Radio Jacaranda" show) and Special Star have been added to the mix, along with a beautiful rendition of A Million Dreams by our Grade 7s. The audience will follow the story of a boy orphan, Anele as he endears himself to the billionaire, Oliver Sheledi. Amateur theatre at its best, we look forward to their performance next week.

We are very proud of our excellent Eisteddfod results. In total, 86% of the children in our school took part in the Art and/or English Speech and Drama sections (besides our girls who took part in the Dance section through Bush Pointe Dance Academy, faciltated on our campus). We are incredibly proud of everyone’s achievements. It takes courage to "put yourself out there" and they really performed well.

A Grade 7 Singapore (and teacher inspired) Maths lesson. First they measured the circumference of their own orange circles, then divided by the diameter of each. We built a graph of all the calculations and eliminated the extremes by working out the average each time. The resulting average from their measurements was 3.16. Then the teacher brought out her own "orange circle". Circumference, measured with string (62.8cm), divided by the diameter (20cm) = 3.14. One boy exclaimed, "That's Pi!" to which the teacher responded, "Exactly," gesturing to the apple pie. A practical (and yummy) way of, hopefully, helping children to remember the formula. And, the bonus, they weren't too far off with their own averaged out measurements.

Last week's theme in Grade R was 'Community Helpers'. They donned their aprons and chef's hats and each baked their own little loaf of bread.
