🌾🐷 WHAT OUR GR RR LEARNERS EXPLORED THIS WEEK: ON THE FARM! 🐄🌻

What a fun, hands-on week of learning at Doxa Deo Kids Academy! Our Grade R RR learners stepped into the wonderful world of the farm and discovered that learning can be messy, meaningful, joyful and full of wonder. 💚

🚜 Farm Life: We explored farm animals, crops, tractors, barns and the important role farms play in providing food for our communities.

🐄 Did you know? Cows have four stomach compartments to help them digest grass and other plant material! 🐮

🐝 Did you know? Bees play a vital role in pollinating many of the fruits, vegetables and crops we enjoy. 🌻🍎

🌱 Did you know? Plants need sunlight, water, air and nutrients to grow. Our little learners discovered how food begins with something as small as a seed! 🌱

👃👀👂👅✋ And then we explored ALL 5 SENSES!
Our week ended with a wonderful kinesthetic Make & Bake experience, where our learners learned through doing, touching, tasting, smelling and observing. They used their little hands to create their own farm-inspired treats while developing fine-motor skills, creativity, sensory awareness, language and confidence. 🧁🐷

🌿 WHAT DID OUR GRADE R LEARN & DEVELOP THIS WEEK? – INSECTS! 🌿

What an exciting, hands-on week our Grade R learners had exploring the wonderful world of insects! 🐛🦋🐞

Through play, investigation, creativity and practical activities, our little learners developed so much more than just knowledge about insects! ✨

🌟This week we developed:
🐜 Fine-motor skills – manipulating, creating, drawing and working with small objects
🧠 Cognitive development – observing, comparing, identifying and learning interesting insect facts
🗣️ Language & communication – building vocabulary and confidently sharing what we know
🔢 Early numeracy skills – counting, matching, sorting and recognising patterns
✍️ Pre-writing skills – strengthening hand muscles, pencil control and visual-motor coordination
🎨 Creativity & imagination – expressing learning through art and hands-on activities
🤝 Social skills – sharing, taking turns, cooperating and learning together
💪 Gross-motor development – movement activities that strengthen coordination, balance and body control
❤️ Confidence & independence – encouraging every child to participate, explore and proudly share their learning!

And of course, our learning is always Christ-centred. ❤️🙏

We want our children to understand that the world around them is wonderfully created by God and that every little creature has a purpose in His creation. 🌎🐝

🌿🦁 WILD ABOUT LEARNING IN GRADE R! 🐘🦒

This week our Grade R learners went on an exciting adventure into the world of WILD ANIMALS! 🦁🐘🦓🦒

Through fun, hands-on activities, our learners explored wild animals while developing important skills for their Grade 1 journey.

✨ WHAT DID WE LEARN & DEVELOP?

🧠 Cognitive Development
• Identified and discussed different wild animals
• Practised matching, sequencing and visual discrimination
• Developed problem-solving skills through puzzles and activities
• Strengthened number recognition and counting skills

✏️ Fine Motor Development
• Improved pencil grip and control through colouring and drawing
• Practised tracing, writing and completing worksheets
• Developed hand-eye coordination and visual-motor skills

🎨 Creativity & Imagination
• Drew and coloured their favourite wild animals
• Used their imagination to create pictures and stories
• Explored different ways to represent animals through art

🗣️ Language & Communication
• Expanded vocabulary by learning the names and characteristics of wild animals
• Participated in discussions and shared ideas
• Practised expressing themselves through pictures and conversation

💛 Social & Emotional Development
• Built confidence by sharing their ideas and completed work
• Practised concentration, patience and following instructions
• Experienced the joy of learning together!
