Dear Kammaland Community,
Please see the attached statement regarding the serious accident that occurred this morning on the Mooi River Road, just above Kammaland.
First and foremost, we are incredibly grateful to God that none of our Kammaland learners were involved and that the taxis involved were on the public road and were not entering or exiting Kammaland.
We know many of you may have heard about the accident, so we wanted to reassure our immediate community that everyone on our side is safe.
You can also be very proud of our staff. Our first aiders and other staff responded immediately, calmly and compassionately, assisting the injured learners and teachers until emergency services arrived.
As always, we will use this experience to review our emergency response, systems and staff skills and identify ways to be even better prepared in future.
We will also continue engaging with the relevant authorities regarding the road. The National Roads Department visited Kammaland earlier this year, and we will continue following up on the safety concerns previously raised.
For now, please know that our Kammaland community is safe, and you can be very proud of how our staff handled today's difficult situation.
Thank you for your continued trust and support.
Kind regards,
Candice Bunn
Principal
