This year marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our family as my son starts his homeschooling journey. It is a decision made with intention, care and a deep belief in his potential.

For parents considering homeschooling, it is important to remember that the WCED must be formally notified and informed of the curriculum being used. Our timetable was carefully planned and submitted to the WCED to ensure structure and compliance.

I believe that thoughtful planning creates a solid foundation for learning, while flexibility allows us to respond to my son’s individual needs and guide him in a way that best supports his growth.

If you're looking for extra support to help your child with reading, here’s how our online lessons work at InQuizzy Kids:

📘 Our sessions take place twice a week (online) and focus on phonics and reading development.

👧🏽👦🏼 We keep classes small, so each child gets the focused attention they need.

📩 Parents get access to all reading materials and worksheets used in the lessons (sent as easy-to-use PDFs).

🎓 Lessons are led by a qualified SACE-registered teacher, and I also assist with some of the group reading sessions.

💬 Parents, a quick but important message...

⚠️ If your child struggled or didn’t do well this term, don’t let the whole holiday pass without some catch-up time. You don’t need to do schoolwork every day—but some structure really helps.

✅ Sit with your child and make a simple plan together. They need your support, do not let them figure it out alone.

📚 Let them read aloud to you in English and Afrikaans. After reading, ask them to explain what they have just read—that builds confidence and comprehension.

💻 For extra help, visit the WCED Online Learning Portal. Just search for your child’s grade, and you’ll find lessons, resources, etc all in one place. Take your time to explore—it’s full of great support!
