AMP's STORY
AMP was established in 2011 and has continued to grow from strength to strength through the support of a community of learners, teachers, friends and funders.

We have a carefully structured series of programmes from foundational music learning at primary school level, up to our Internship programmes at post-school level, which assist with bridging learners to tertiary studies and the creative industry.

VISION
For South Africa’s youth to have equal ACCESS to music education, creative industry, cultural heritage and artistic possibilities.

MISSION
To enable young musical people, who would not otherwise have the opportunity, to realise musical futures through a solid and competitive music education, towards the development of outstanding musicians.

Join us on Thursday, 18 June at 18:00 at Victoria Manor and Die Tuishuise for a special opening evening of the Schreiner Karoo Writers Festival 2026.

Enjoy a Festival Special Dinner before settling in for an inspiring AVBOB Showcase, celebrating the power of poetry, storytelling and music in the heart of the Karoo.

The evening features a performance by ACCESS Music, an organisation dedicated to nurturing young musical talent and creating opportunities for emerging artists across South Africa. Their uplifting performances showcase the transformative power of music and young voices.

We are also honoured to welcome Stephen Symons, recipient of the 2026 Olive Schreiner Prize for Poetry for his acclaimed collection The Algebra of Insignificance. Symons' work has been praised for its insight, precision and deeply human reflections on the ordinary moments that shape our lives.

Adding to this remarkable programme is celebrated poet Clinton V. du Plessis, winner of the AVBOB Afrikaans Poetry Prize, who will read from his latest collection, Maar steeds sal daar miskien. Known for his powerful and accessible poetry, Du Plessis remains one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Afrikaans literature.
