PREFECT INDUCTION | 2027

Today, our 2027 Prefects were formally inducted in All Saints Chapel, the heart of our campus, surrounded by their families, teachers and fellow pupils.

For these girls, today marks the beginning of a year that will ask them to lead, to listen, to make decisions and to step outside what is comfortable. They will be challenged, they will grow, and they will discover more about themselves along the way. And, we hope, they will have plenty of fun while they do it.

Because this is about more than the badge. It is about the girl behind the badge. The person she is, the values she holds, the way she treats others and the kind of leader she chooses to become.

We hope our 2027 Prefects will find their own way of leading. That they will have the courage to use their voices, the humility to listen to others and the confidence to stand by what they believe in.

To our 2027 Prefects — this is your year. Wear the badge proudly, but never forget the girl wearing it.

We are proud of you, and we look forward to watching you grow.

LIFESTYLE DINNER | BALLOON WEEK 2026

Balloon Week 2026 got off to a beautiful start last night with our Lifestyle Dinner in the Coat & Bather.

The afternoon was a big team effort, with our girls and teachers transforming the space with flowers, colour and plenty of creativity. And girls, you absolutely nailed it. The room looked beautiful. A big well done to Lindsay Davy and the Lifestyle team for bringing it all together.

The evening included reports from our Head of Lifestyle, Lindsay Davy, our Junior and Senior representatives, and Dance — a lovely glimpse into everything happening within Lifestyle at DSG.

Holly Jarvis introduced our Guest of Honour, Caity Hird, who gave an absolutely beautiful and thought-provoking speech that left us with so much hope and admiration.

A special thank you by Ulwandolwethu Mabandla, followed by a vote of thanks from Dr Sally James.

Our Grade 9s also helped serve the tables, while dessert was made by our Food for Thought girls — and it went down an absolute treat!

It was a warm and welcoming evening, and a lovely reflection of how much Lifestyle is growing in our space. A wonderful way to start Balloon Week.

Well done, girls. You made it beautiful.

We had a bit of fun this morning when Ndiya and Rebecca from Grade 4 put Gillian Rank and Ava van der Walt through a quick-fire interview.

There were some very good answers, a few surprises, and one question that has definitely divided the jury…

Pineapple on pizza? We’re still not convinced.

PREFECT ANNOUNCEMENT 2027 | PHOTO HIGHLIGHTS

Yesterday was a very special day at DSG as we announced our 2027 Prefects, Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl.

For our Grade 8s, this was their first time experiencing Prefect Announcement, while for the older girls, it was about seeing the Grade 11s they’ve watched grow and gotten to know take on these roles.

And if there’s one thing we can say about our girls, it’s that they really know how to celebrate each other! There were cheers, happy tears, lots of excitement and some very proud friends as each name was announced.

To our 2027 Prefects, Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl — congratulations! We know you’ll lead with heart, stand by what you believe in, look out for the girls around you and carry your roles with grace.
