Call for Chief Adjudicator

The ECSDB would like to open the call for the position of Chief Adjudicator for this year’s Eastern Cape Schools’ Provincial Debating Competition. We welcome the application of anyone with extensive World Schools’ adjudication experience. Two CA’s will be appointed.

Applications should include the following:

1. Your full name and contact details

2. A brief CV indicating your past involvement in debating with specific focus on your involvement in schools debating

3. A brief motivation including an elaboration of your adjudication philosophy, clearly indicating your work ethic on a chief adjudication panel and your thought process as an adjudicator

4. A brief description of what you consider to be a good debating motion at both the senior and junior level

Minimum requirements:

1. A suitable candidate will have at least three years of schools-level adjudication experience (including 2019), with experience in chairing adjudication panels and adjudicating break rounds. Previous experience in any organisational role, particularly those involving allocating or training judges, or setting and evaluating motions, would be an advantage.

3. A suitable candidate will also be available to attend the Eastern Cape Schools’ Provincial Debating Competition from 19-21 July in Grahamstown.

It's nearly time for the best speakers from our province to attend the South African Schools' Debating Championships. As the competition is unusually expensive this year we are having difficulties raising the necessary funds to subsidize our speakers. We are calling on everyone to, if possible, please donate some money towards this cause. Every little bit helps and we would appreciate it if everyone could do what they can to help us reach out goal. So share widely!
