*Second Annual Rhodes Universrity Spelling Bee 2024*

Samuel Ntlebi part took in the Rhodes University Spelling Bee on Friday 26 July 2024. There were strong contenders from various Makhanda schools but our participants Thawani Nzvere and Khayone Gubevu would not let in.

Thawani Nzvere (pictured right) brought the cup home winning first place and beating all his competitors!! Samuel Ntlebi Primary Makhanda is winning this competition for the second time in a row since it's initiation.

Sibanye Special Day Care Centre (located in Samuel Ntlebi premises) hosted a Disability Awareness Day.

This day was set as a reminder to always remember to incorporate the differently abled in everyday life such as work, school and our communities. The day was a huge success and its ethos was well received by the community.

Some of our learners performed their traditional dance piece beautifully in support of this event.

Congratulations to Mrs Nzwana (one of our educators) for completing the Leadership in Management Course under the Rhodes University Business School.

Samuel Ntlebi was invited to the Makhanda Schools Chess Championship founded by SEMCCYA (Sewelo Maths and Chess Community Youth Academy). This tournament was for all the local primary and secondary schools.

The tournament was not an easy one as all the players were highly skilled.

We are happy to announce that 3 of our learners came back with 1st, 3rd and 5th position out of 31 positions in Section B.

CONGRATULATIONS to Sokonwaba Mankayi (Grade 7) for taking 1st position; Bayolise Nikelo (Grade 7) for coming back with 3rd position and Sophumelela Mandlala (Grade 5) for acquiring the 5th position!! Sithi halalaaa kubo!

Well done to all the players who played for the Samuel Ntlebi club for even making it that far.
